I am watching Pete working on a tractor engine - distributor, plugs, cams, etc. (no idea what all this stuff is or how it works), and it brought to mind the magnificence of the human body and all the parts that go together (some that "scientists" doctors have no idea what they are for - appendix?) to make our bodies run smoothly. Our Father did that with just a thought. He didn't have to replace parts because they were the wrong model or grease the parts to keep them from rubbing (although now I feel I could use a little greasing). He just thought, and it was done. What a marvelous creation we are!! Look at all the moving parts in us - and they synchronize perfectly!! Thanks for the reminder - we all need to know the Master Mechanic.

The only time I rebuilt a small 4 cylinder 25HP engine was under the guidance of a retired aircraft mechanic. the first requirement was to have the proper manual with all the specs. Then the necessary parts. When totally apart on the bench, I thought it would never start again. It was so satisfying when it started up. It was a miracle! I could not believe that it actually turned over and kept running. Then I realized every motor has to start up for the first time at the beginning. The thought and engineering that goes into a complex machine like an engine is truly amazing. Patience and a good tutor along with the right tools and the manual are all that are required. Great farmers are the masters of repair. I really enjoy your explanations in these videos.

Being horribly wrong is all part of being a mechanic, not letting it stop you is what makes a great mechanic. Know nothing about tractors, but a great deal keeping old mechanical industrial presses running. I really enjoyed your video, brought back lots of old memories of being horribly wrong, but knowing if you couldn't get the 30+-year-old press back up and running, lots of people would have to be sent home

Good job man! I like the 504s the only reason I decided not to buy one or 2 was the fact that the engines aren't sleeved. I'd rather be able to do a rebuild without removing the engine and sending it to a shop for boring.

Nice thing about these older tractors is the fact that you can tune them up yourself. A new tractor has so much computer controlled mechanisms that you need a computer to tune it and a course in a tech college to learn it. My son works on the modern electronics and when they work right then they are nice but they can be expensive and a pain in the neck when they go bad.

I'll bet you are so glad to get that figured out and done. I know you like the challenge, as would I when it comes to the old reliable ones, but it is not simple. You just showed a whole lot of us viewers the complexity of these older machines. They may not be as complicated or precise when it comes to the specs or as computerized, as the newer ones, but they aren't easy either. Pete, That was a wonderful video. It was full of issues that we have all encountered when we have a major mechanical repair. Your patience while filming it is admirable ( Though I am sure you may have edited some parts out). That's for taking us on that journey.
