I love your videos. You're the only athlete I've come across that talks about stuff like sponsorship and earnings, it's really interesting. And more often than not you reply to people's messages, which is just lovely. Have a fab time in Dubai.

For anyone chasing sponsorship, one should always put themselves in the position of the sponsor. What would YOU want as a sponsor from an athlete... For the most part its exposure- and positive exposure at that... or at the very least, the real prospect of that...

Yep very good point - was trying to talk about that when talking about what value you can offer the sponsors 👍

So, like when you choose a cycle kit sponsor that will give you a signature kit. (You did this with Stomp the Pedal) And then choosing to move on to something less flashy. How do those economics work?
@Reastle1
@Reastle1 Ай бұрын
Obviously very dependent on what deals you have with each sponsor. Ie on a signature kit what % are you actually taking, how much are you managing to sell etc. also other things with kit to take into consideration if race kit vs training kit, ability of company to test different fabrics for aero / cooling capability etc. so lots of different considerations

I wonder how these tips apply to amateur athletes that are competitive age groupers?
@Reastle1
@Reastle1 Ай бұрын
Basically the same applies - companies probably more likely to sponsor some AGers than pros given the reach some of them have

One must keep in mind that the downside is potentially worse than any upside. A mediocre placing pulls the average down a bit. But, going on media and spouting off about T.rump , R v W, TG etc etc is a barn fire. Taking sides on a controversial issue loses half of your followers while not gaining any. Athletes spend their time doing reps and are not the go to on current events anyway.

Why would a company sponsor you? What are the top three attractions for a sponsor over other triathletes?
