I'm pretty sure gunners can actually sharpen their bow guns. If they're using something like the hell blade glavenus set, ounce they sharpen their bowgun they get a damage boost for a short duration. But this is pretty obscure, I just thought I should point this out.

@@yroue2186 Heavy polish, increases crit distance modifier from 1.5 to 1.7 for 90? seconds. You are right about it being obscure, kinda forget that skill exists in GU

the reason that rathalos move was removed is probably because it's neither fun not challenging. you can't hurt him, and the attack is easily dodged. the attack even got a nickname because of its infamy: rathalos world tour.

Didnt world created an EXACT monster with this same attacks? The one with explosive scales. He literally does the same attack, and nobody complained.

@@tiffyfemboy not the same attack, in the slightest, though it is true that you can't really hit him during it. the thing that makes it fine on bazel is that the move is visually more impressive and has a shorter duration. it's also more active, he's constantly dropping scales during it rather than shooting a fireball every now and then.

Yeah, Charge Blade was crazy in 4U. Kinda weird how you can only get a Water-element CB *after* fighting Gravios, though.

Delete your emulator folder, redownload (if you don't have the zip file/installer), reinstall in a different folder. You must have touched a setting you shouldn't have touch xD AH, make sure you make a backup of your save file! (right click on your game and open save data location)

If you use Seregios weapons, you can't roll, because rolling with a Seregios weapon sharpens the weapon

Great video! The only strategy change I would have done is using Switch Axe, as it gets intrinsic Mind's Eye in sword mode and even the basic reload function give you plenty of uptime. Still, fascinating challenge, and I'm lucky enough I can go straight to part two!

I think having skills that effect sharpness should be allowed because if the challenge is just don’t sharpen well increasing your sharpen or making it last longer would be helpful.

You should use an unofficial Citra build like Citra Valentin or his newer emulator based on Citra - vvctre. Official Citra builds are getting better for MH but for a long time they have lacked basic fixes that we've had available for years. You should encounter zero issues with that.

Doesn’t bludgeoner only affect damage dealt with lower sharpness? Given the rules, bludgeoner doesn’t affect the rate of which sharpness is lost, so on a technicality, you could use bludgeoner as the negative sharpness mod for yellow and lower balance the damage boost given

Beating mhw without sharpening Rules: 1. disable whetstone from your item selection and radial menu. 2. Do not use whetfish or whetfish+ 3. No skills and set bonuses related to sharpness. Speed sharpening and protective polish are allowed because rules 1 & 2 render them null and void due to the need to use sharpening items to activate. 4. Don't go inside the tent at camp. 5. No gunner weapons.

This happens to be one with a unique difficulty curve. But it's not the hardest challenge to taker on. Although that may depend on the weapon you use.

Answering your hypothetical. Yes, it is possible to beat 4U without sharpening BUT only using CB, since phials don't really care about the multiplier values and you can just SAED spam everything to death. However, using other weapons, I don't think so.

i'm saying this before i watch the video, but i'm fairly certain it is possible to beat the game without sharpening i played 4 ultimate when i was young and i didn't understand the concept of sharpening and upgrading gear so i had to get tactical and i would learn a monster's moveset before i took an actual go at the fight when i fought monsters, i would find attack indicators and walk a few steps away and then attack when either it stopped attacking or it had a huge window that i could hit them a few times there was a lot, and i mean *A LOT* of weapon bouncing, but i dealt with it because i knew it was a feature of the game, and i think the main damage dealers throughout all of it were my palicoes because if i remember correctly their attacks didn't/don't bounce (each hunt lasted at least 30 to 40 minutes but they were still fun) so i played and played and played and still had all of the starter gear up until somewhere between HR 3 to 5 when i had to ask my brother (who also played the game and is much older than me) for help and he taught me how to upgrade my equipment and the effectiveness of sharpening (i would just sharpen randomly because i had no clue what it did, plus i still kept my tactical strategy of avoiding damage and only attacking during large windows anyways but cleared hunts a lot faster due to my *MUCH* higher attack) so the whole point of this comment is that i got pretty far (for my age at the time) without upgrading literally anything, and now i want to challenge you to see how far you can get into the game without upgrading your equipment

He used citra, you can find 4u Roms on zíperto i believe Just search for citra decrypted Roms and then all you have to do is tweak some settings in the emulator and youre good to go

It won't reduce damage but you do less overall damage to an armored area of a monster regardless of sharpness/mind's eye.

Awesome video, dude i used have the same problem in the emulator, just do right click and choose to play with your nvidia graphics, because it runs with the intel itegraded, and performance goes up to 10 times

@@ReaverJolt yeah dude, if you dont want to do that everytime, you can go to nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings , program settings, then choose select a program to customize, choose citra, then select your nvidia gpu and it will always run on the nvidia graphics
