REAX 267 vs S&S Oakland - Inexpensive Riding Jeans Comparison - Do they Suck?

I bought a pair of each to compare, here's what I found.
It's worth noting that after shooting the video I cut out the knee pad pockets on the Oaklands and the two fewer layers of material at my knee area helped it feel less snug. I think most people would argue that they are a better fit and look (other than that dumb fade). I may have to reconsider which one I buy more of.

Bought a pair of these jeans also, new to riding, and "Didn't know".. I use the Reax jeans for light riding now, with the "pocket's cut out as they are there for whatever reason (CE rating)? A design flaw I will absolutely admit. I now use Revit Moto jeans for 95% of my rides, and they are leaps & bounds better in every way. More pricey yes, but worth it! Great review, and honest opinion on the Reax!

That's funny. I did exactly the same. I use the REAX 267's as my regular jeans and around town stuff without the pockets/pads. Then I have REV'IT! Philly 3 and Lombard 3 jeans with the pads for the rest of my riding. I also have some Riding Culture Straight Leg jeans that I use like the REAX, pad pockets removed, light duty. The REAX are pretty good in the wind, the Riding Culture let a lot more through. What gets me is that ALL of them are AA rated in terms of material and construction methods, the only reason they aren't all AA certified is the factory doesn't include hip pads on the REAX and Riding Cultures. Obviously with them completely removed it wouldn't matter, but it gives me some confidence in terms of slide protection despite the REAX and RC being thinner and lighter.

You might have snipped out the knee pad pockets before you discovered this issue, but those pockets begin to separate from the jeans after only a few hours of sweaty riding. They’re just attached to the inside of the pant leg by tape and the pockets on both sides came off almost completely after my first day riding in the jeans.

I had heard about the problem and looked at it. Mine were like everyone else's and barely hanging on. Luckily I didn't really care about the knee pads as much as the general slide protection. Honestly, I understand the issue, but if you're gonna sell this stuff... That's like saying a bike is fast and in the fine print you add "compared to pedal bikes". You aren't lying to your customer, but you ARE tricking them regarding the realistic capabilities of the product.
