God, her voice is just a crisp glass of water in this production. Crystal clear and refreshing.

I was lucky enough to see these two in this production. Reba was so perfect and delightful in the role. Pure joy. However, even with the tinkering they did to make it more palatable to current audiences, this show still showed its age in sometimes uncomfortable ways. The twist they did with this scene, though, worked really well, particularly with the way Reba sold it. Simple but also kinda brilliant.

If Reba had originated the role in this revival she would have won every award Bernadette did and maybe one or two more if possible. I know for some time it was kicked around of a Whorehouse revival with her starring as Miss Mona. I think a revival of that show is problematic now because of sensitivities in the current climate - but dear God can we get this woman back on a broadway stage ASAP??? She’s a true gem! Thank you so much for posting this Spiderwoman-I love Reba!

She would be a great Mona! There will always be brothels and ladies who work them. Let's celebrate the workers of that industry and bring back Whorehouse.

Reba was phenomenal & brilliant playing Annie Oakley . She’s the best in the history of this amazing AGYG on Broadway

still the best Annie I ever saw....she blew me away , a talent on a par with Mary Martin etc...she made this old warhorse look fresh and new...delightful!

Love her more than any other star who played Annie Oakley . She’s a natural

She really surprised me. I knew her as a C & W singer but she sings so well and her comedy ability is top notch.

Reba should have originated the role in this production. It's also always going to be really disappointing that Reba never got to play roles like Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, Reno in the most recent Anything Goes revival, or replace as Dolly in the most recent Hello Dolly revival. She has a natural and infectious stage presents that cannot be taught or trained, only polished to shine brighter and brighter. I'd be first in line to see her return to the stage.

You are so right about the kind of talent that can't be taught or trained---this performance showed everyone that Reba was a natural. I have no doubt at all that she was offered Dolly at some point during the run of the 2017-2020 revival.

His look of "I am getting ready to strangle you right about now" (at 2:05, 2:06). Priceless. 😉😜😘 All their friends, if they saw them doing this, would probably just say, "Okay, well, when you figure out what kind of a wedding you're having, just let us know and we'll all be happy to come to it". ^_____^

amazing footage as always! everyone knows she should have originated but it was just an issue of timing, sadly. i remember she was being courted by the producers for this show for a long time until they could finally nab her. what a star performance this was😻

If she had opened the show (as she should have) she too would have won the Tony. No doubt.

I cannot believe how just made for Reba this show is, when the original of it was made before she was even old enough to be it. I never would have guessed she'd be good in "old fashioned" musicals, but she really is good. My preference would have been to do her hair a bit differently, though. I think the curls on her forehead would've looked better on a different part of her forehead. Otherwise this is good. ^___^ Actually it's *really* good. She does the "You Can't Get a Man With a Gun" song the best, though. That one's where she really shines 🌟🤩⭐ the most. ^____^

They are wonderful together! Thank so much for posting! :) I don't know if I am making this up out of whole cloth but either Barbara Cook was told she needed to see Reba in the role or she saw it and was telling others they needed to see it. All I know is Cook is the center of the story.
@auroraspiderwoman58865 жыл бұрын
In one of her concert shows, Cook did a major number on how great Reba was in this "Annie." In a subsequent show, Cook told a similar story of how great Fantasia was in "Color Purple." Both raves about replacements. We also know that Cook was a big fan of Hugh Jackman in "Boy from Oz." Were Cook still with us, there's no doubt she would be looking forward to Jackman in a revival of her biggest hit.

I'm sorry her CBS adaptation of AGYG never happened. I also felt that Reba's NY follow-up should have been in 'Call Me Madam,' not 'South Pacific'
@auroraspiderwoman58865 жыл бұрын
Nellie Forbush is a much more serious role than Annie---"Madam" or "Dolly!" would have been more fun.

She has exquisite musical comedy clown instincts and radiates genuine warmth. (How I wish they had captured that Carnegie Carousel instead of South Pacific...)
