I lost my mama a week ago and I don't know how to say goodbye or even breath. She would have been 89 next month. I was adopted and I grew up riding and showing horses my whole life. My parents didn't ride but they worked hard everyday just to make sure I had horse and everything I needed to ride and show. What a blessing they were. Dad's been gone 10 years and my mom was my best friend. I'm so lost and this song really hit home. Run just like the horses mama.😪💔

Lost my dad on Christmas eve 2010, he was in the US, me in Europe. I wanted to go to him as soon as I heard he had cancer. He didn't want me to see him broken from the cancer. I remember how my step.mother put the phone to dad's ear when he could no longer talk or swallow. I told him I loved him and I knew he was tired and it was OK to go Home, into the Lord's arms. I found out he passed a few hours later. This song has become a way to mourn my dad and let the tears still fall. Thank you Reba!

My Dad died of cancer when he was only 31 and I was just 5 years old. He was never able to get me that first pony that he promised me, and he never got to see me ride and raise my own twin baby girls...all three of us grew up to love and ride our own horses and have little cowgirls who will keep on riding under the sun . I watch this video and it gives me peace. My daddy passed away 10 years ago and I was blessed to be with him when the pearly gates opened for him. He was in a coma from a stroke, my sisters and mom got to tell him goodbye earlier and then I finally got my chance. I told him it was ok to go, go see his mom and dad and his siblings that had already passed. We would be ok. He raised a wonderful set of 3 red headed girls and was a loving husband to our mom. It was ok to let go. And he did. He took his last breath with me by his side as he passed through the gates and saw his family that had passed before him. Reba - keep writing songs. They are all so beautiful and so meaningful. "The Man I Never Knew" is also so special to me. I never heard my daddy say "I love you" - but I know he did. When he passed, we all knew he loved us. Thank you Reba for doing what you do. Much love.

I just melted when I heard this song. I came across it a few days after I put my 15 year old Golden Retriever down. I do not have children and he has been my world. He held on for so long. Had an eye removed, bad back leg and bumps, but I said as long as he wagged his tail and ate, I would keep him with me. I laid with him for 3 days and had to put him down. Never have I felt so much pain. I have been taking care of my mom who had a stroke almost 3 years ago and Alex kept me going. I do not usually listen to Country but do love Reba and watch her show. I listen to this song all the time. I will see him again and know he is healthy and waiting. Thank You Reba!!!

I lost both of my Grandpas in 2014. I still cry over losing them. In 2006, I lost an Aunt, who was 36 years old, to a massive heart. She passed away 5 days before her baby's 1st birthday. My Grandpa hadn't seen her children in years, but they just happen to be visiting as my Grandpa was passing away. My Grandpa was coma, but the youngest walked over to him and leaned over next to him and said: Grandpa this is Andrew. Tears started rolling down my Grandpa's cheeks, he passed away 3 hours later.

my Dad's words and wisdom thought me for many years in my young adulthood. He may have not been there as often as I wanted him to be in my youth, because of divorce, etc...but I was stubborn as he was and he kept me going through college and then working for a lawyer, and my career started by his words..........and I'll never forget what he went through to give me that strength, as we both run like those horses!!!

January 9th 2014 my dad collapsed at home. we had no idea what was wrong. we called 911 and was told to start chest compressions. my mom wasn't able so I took over. Literally trying to pump life back into my dad. pushing so hard I felt his ribs. heard emergency services arrive but continued to push. firefighters had to pull my off for the Defib. watched the defib until the made me leave. watched them carry him out hearing "he has no pulse but we are hopeful". surgery, more heart attacks. 7 days later no further brain activity, to much oxygen lost. We said goodbye and left. Life has never been the same. I live with that day forever and the memories are not enough. Thank you for this song reba and making it so real especially the video. I'll never be ok without my dad but it's nice to know i' m not alone. You have been my idol for as long as I can remember and I really feel connected to you. Thank you for all the years of healing through music!

Reba I have been your number 1 fan since 2017. In June of 2017 I lost my Great Grandma. Unfortunately I discovered this song after her funeral. Her and my Great Grandpa actually had horses on a 120 acre farm and this song helped me so much. If you can Reba I would love to get in touch with you just to tell you how much you mean to the fans of country music. You and George Strait are the King and Queen of Country Music. The picture that it paints is hard for most people to understand. They think horses only live in small pastures and maybe spend all their nights in a barn. Them horses ran free as often as not and sometimes they just had to run free. That's hard on city folk and lots of residents of small towns. Reba has seen horses that had to run without a rider and is painting that picture.

My paternal grandfather died after I was born, paternal grandma after my dad died. I lost my maternal grandmother in 2006 to cancer, I am grateful to have my maternal grandfather still here, he is 94 years old, I know one day God will be ready to take him, it will be a very hard day for me, he is all I have left for a mentor. He has taught me a lot growing up and he is the best grandpa one could have. Thanks Reba for a beautiful song. I know you wrote it for your dad, God Bless you

I heard my mother scream my name. I jumped from the bed and ran to their room. I grabbed my father just in time to prevent him from falling out of bed. I laid him down, and felt the ICD hit him. I said, give me a breath, and told me mother to go call the hospice nurse. When the second jolt hit him, I knew it was at an end. I held his head in my left hand, and his arm with my right. When the third jolt hit us both, i jumped. I whispered in his ear, Its OK daddy, you've done enough. You can let go, we're going to be OK. Its been 10 years. We're not OK. But I listen to songs like this, and it allows me to release a lot of the anger. Reba, you hit a home run with this one. You found your Dance.

I stayed with her every night. the one night I had to go home to get some sleep, I also whispered in her ear "momma you can go, we will be okay, you have fought a good fight". she passed away on my way home. I still feel guilty for not being there when she left. She was there when I entered this world, I wanted to be there when she left. I will never be right again. I'm sorry for your loss also.

sorry to hear your mum passed away Reba, l know you will always love and remember her, you have sang the most touching song about the most wonderful animals on this planet, it made me think of all the pain my daughter Heidi went thru losing her beloved horse Rummie, to the malpractice of a local vet, who should have known better and questioned his actions before he over dosed Rummie with too much sedative, that's all it took, to end up killing the only horse and friend she ever had, and l know has never got over his loss, it this song saves one horse it has done it job, thank you very much Reba, you are as much a hero as Willy Nelson and what he has done for the poor old horse, love you, Carol Belbin, Penguin Tasmania

I always thought of Reba as the Madonna of country music. A queen. This song ripped my heart out. You know a song is good if it makes you dance, gives you hope, comforts you, and in this case, makes you cry. Madonna will always be the queen of pop. Reba will always be the queen of country.

Remember just like actors, the Madonna you see on stage isn't the same Madonna when she steps off stage. When she performs she takes on the persona of what the song represents. Just like a actor would do with whatever character they portray.

My moma passed away 10 years on 4-25-14. We buried her on Mother's Day weekend. They say it gets easier as the years pass. Not true at all. When i was holding her Urn a butterfly landed on it. I was like, are y'all seeing this? I walked over to my younger brother, handed him the urn, withe the butterfly still on it. Hesaid he couldn't put the urn in the ground with the butterfly still perched on it. My son nudged it and it stayed on his finger and he asked what he should do with it. I told him to put it on the flowers i had for her. My brother started to put the urn in the ground and he said " I love you moma". All of a sudden that butterfly took flight and fluttered in his face for probably 10 or more seconds and then flew away up high. The thing that is really amazing...... my mom struggled in life after her and my dad divorced. The wings on that butterfly were torn and tattered. I know with all my heart it was her saying goodbye and she was ok. About a month later i was sitting at my kitchen table about to leave and go run errands. A butterfly came fluttering up to the glass door and then landed on my swing, stayed for about a minute, and then flew off. I was driving down the street. The light turned red, i stopped and then looked up and noticed the street sign to the right. It said LOLA Street. That was ( is) my mom's name. I smiled and tears in my eyes i said " I hear ya moma". I miss her so much. I drove over a hundred miles on this last Mother's Day to visit her grave. I looked up from her headstone and noticed a butterfly right near. Hmmm❤😢

I had the privilege of being present when a mentor of mine, a wonderful man of God who had grown from the depths of addiction passed into heaven. I hadn't had a lot of fathering and one day I begged God for a man to teach me how to be a Christian husband and father, because I was a failure at that stuff. This man was one the men God put in my life to teach me. My dear mentor Willard died in peace, unafraid, knowing to where he was going. Looking at him lying on this death bed he reminded my of the Apostle Paul. That was some 20 years ago, but I remember him as I live out my ministry to addicts. The most important thing in recovery is to first learn to have an intimate relationship with God and with yourself.

My husband Louie passed away on Monday August 10, 2020. We have been married just shy of 40 years. After I left the hospital and returned to our cancer lodging I turned on my MP3 player. It is set to random play and I hadn’t listened to it in a couple of months. The first song that came up was listed as unknown artist track 9. It had never played before and I had downloaded all the songs on here years before. Not really listening, just wanting to stop the quietness until a line caught my attention. The line was “If you love me don’t be afraid to look in my eyes and open the gate and watch me run thru on the new morning sun just like them horses when it’s time to run”. I started the song over and began to cry. My Louie had sent me a song. It had been just an hour since his passing. I played it over and over and over. I was afraid to let it go to the next track then not to be able to find it again. I recognized Reba’s voice of course, but had no idea the name of the song. It took a little research, but I found it on KZbin. Thank you Reba for the song and thank you Louie for finding it for me and sending it to me. I love you.

"Just Like Them Horses" She held him close, then she kissed his face He said it just has to be this way Yours is the heart I'll always keep I'm not gone even if I leave If you love me, don't you be afraid To look in my eyes and open up the gate Then watch me ride beneath a newborn sun Just like them horses When it's time to run He said, Chockie Mountain is calling me Gonna take a walk up where I can see Turn and face that western wind Oh, and I'll be home again If you love me, don't you be afraid To look in my eyes and open up the gate Then watch me ride beneath a newborn sun Just like them horses When it's time to run Oh, just like them horses She held his hand, he took one last breath Then she walked out to the front porch step Stared at the sky, tears on her face And she swore she could hear him say If you love me, don't you be afraid To look in my eyes and open up the gate Then watch me ride beneath a newborn sun Just like them horses When it's time to run Just like them horses When it's time to run When it's time to run When it's time to run Now it's time to run Just like them horses, ooh Just like them horses Oh, now it's time to run...

Made me think of my dad immediately we lost him to cancer in 1997. West Nil, July 9th, 2012 took his ability to walk again, learning to do life on different terms. I'm thankful for the talks we had, during moments he needed help to learn things. We etch them in our hearts. When I heard this song, I thought....my Daddy is walking again, tending a beautiful garden and drinking coffee. Thank you Reba, for sharing your journey. Kelley
