Vince Gill is a great guitarist and an even better crooner! My favorite songs from Vince are I Still Believe In You, Tryin’ to Get Over You, Whenever You Come Around, Which Bridge to Cross, Don’t Let Out Love Start Slipping Away, One More Last Chance, and Say Hello. I sure would appreciate it if you’d react to these songs (in that order, lol).

Usually stop over for your Journey/Steve Perry reactions. Had no idea you did a Reba/Vince tune. Been a fan of his for 30+ years. They did another more upbeat duet, Oklahoma Swing. Not only can Vince sing, he's a stellar guitar player too.

I saw Reba at Country Jam in Grand Junction, CO several years ago. It had just turned dark, stars were shining. She's a little bitty thing but when she began too sing, the power of her voice, the tone of her voice seemed to shatter the night! I wouldn't have been surprised if the stars had fallen out of the sky. She was AMAZING!

In this video Vince is and E-7 Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Reba is in the Navy and is graduating from the Navy version of Officers Candidate School where she is being commissioned as a Navy Ensign (O-1) the same as an army Second Lieutenant. Not only is this not allowed (between officer and enlisted) but the handler (Gill) would never be allowed to have anything to do with one of the candidates/students. If something like this ever did happen and was discovered, it would be the end of both careers.

I married a naval officer, and I explained his rank to my family in terms of MASH. When he was a Lieutenant, he was Hawkeye, (an army captain) when he was a lieutenant commander, he was Frank Burns (a major), and when he was a Captain, he was Sherman Potter (a full bird Colonel). In this video, Reba is a newly commissioned officer, an Ensign, Vince is a high ranking non commissioned officer, looks like a gunnery sergeant. So yes, he’d have to salute her, and yes, that’s a no-no in all services.

I’ve been a fan of Vince since 1994. I saw him in concert twice. Vince has one of the best voices in country music. He has sung backup on many artists records over the years. The Military is the same across the Board in reference to Fraternizing. I am a Navy Corpsman, that served with the Green Machine so understanding the Ranks is a little easier for me. Reba to my knowledge is not a Vet, but She certainly looks like a lot of Nurses I worked with while serving at NavHospBeth, Fort Bragg, and Andrews AFB. I really like this Video, and I like what you are doing with the Posts here. I Love Music as much as The O'Jay's.

About the fraternizing: It wasn't really fraternizing until she graduated, and became an officer---that's why they stayed on opposite sides of the glass. No, Reba has never seved in the military---she grew up on a working cattle ranch in Oklahoma, competed in rodeos, and went to college; she signed he first contract while still in college; graduated; then, the rest is history. One of the most fabulous queens of country music, EVER---BTW, you said "when she was singing", or something like that.... She still sings and puts out records/albums---her most recent is a remake duet with Dolly Parton: "Does He Love You"! From one military veteran (Navy - Desert Storm era) to another: Thankyou for your service!!

I was in NJROTC when this video came out and I already had a HUGE crush on Vince Gill. Vince Gill in a dress military uniform was basically this teenage girl's dream come true. Between the Naval setting and Vince, I was obsessed with this video. He has a very smooth voice and it blends really well with Reba's. They did another fun song together called 'Oklahoma Swing'. Super upbeat. Purely for some country dancing.
@hamrad6455 жыл бұрын
I don't think Reba has ever served in the military -- she grew up on a cattle ranch in Southeast Oklahoma, and learned to work hard as a child. Her father was a rodeo champion, and Reba was a women's barrel racing champion. Her career was launched when she sang the Star Spangled Banner at the rodeo championships, that is, if I remember that right.

You’re right. UCMJ is specific about this across all branches. It’s not allowed. As far as the ranking goes he was pushing boots threw the naval academy. She graduated as an officer ( Ensign “butter bars”) she is Enlisted Marine staff or first Sergeant
@mikegagnon40072 жыл бұрын
In the video, she’s a naval officer, he’s marine enlisted. I didn’t get a good look at her rank insignia but, as a navy vet, I can assure you that the rules for fraternization are the same across the board. Their relationship is against the UCMJ. That’s what they were singing about. They can’t stop their hearts from loving each other but the rules prevent them from following their heart
