She was given a 15 year to life sentence. Basically it’s a life sentence. She must first serve the full 15 years before she is eligible for a parole hearing. No is ever granted parole on their first hearing. If she is lucky she could be granted parole 20 or 25 years. She MUST show remorse, something she clearly doesn’t have. @surfrunnerd8457 how are people supposed to properly react when someone is going 80+ mph in a 25 mph zone? Your reaction time isn't going to be fast enough. That's why people who speed are always at fault in an accident. The fact that you're trying to put this on the kids indicates to me you're not aware of your responsibilities as a driver (I hope you don't drive) or a basic understanding of cause and affect. Maybe if this woman understood taking accountability for her actions, she wouldn't have even thought about driving when she was under the influence. @al-rediph
@al-rediph 10 күн бұрын
@@nicoly075 15 years to life is the same as life in prison in many countries. Everybody deserves to live and justice is not the same as revenge. So how about speeding? Thought experiment: Rebecca Grossman is being stopped by the police before she would have killed the children. In most jurisdictions, there is no difference between murder and attempted murder. So in this case, the police would have to charge her with second degree murder (attempted) and she would get the same sentence, 15 years to life. Or, based on your reasoning, maybe life in prison (no parole) because she does not deserve to have a life. So speeding could and should land you in prison for life, because you know you could kill somebody. Is now clear how big of a stretch this sentence was? Maybe correct and just, but neverthless a stretch. Again, I'm not claiming the sentence Rebecca Grossman got is too high. But is definitely not too low and the justice system was stretched as far as possible to accommodate a sentence that more people may feel more appropriate for the death of two children. If this is not enough, than nothing will be.
@nicoly075
@nicoly075 8 күн бұрын
@@al-rediph i understand where your coming from- but speeding and murder is different. Grossman was intoxicated and racing with her partner, with zero care or remorse, that should play into her sentencing, speeding is different? it depends on so many factors, wether their is remorse, wether there were people around, or if they were on empty streets, ect. which could lead into attempted murder which i would agree with my previous comment on the punishment, someone who was speeding very little to get their labouring wife to hospital for example would not get the same sentencing, thats common sense.
@al-rediph
@al-rediph 8 күн бұрын
@@nicoly075 She was not charged with DUI. Speeding is what remains. And the "racing" part. Which I find quite interesting because there was a case in Germany where somebody killed a person while racing. He got life in prison (15 years) and his race partner got 13 years. I can follow the sentence. Nevertheless, I think people put too much attention on "remorse". She can't admit guilt without compromising her defence, and is this is ok. Remorse will play a role on her parole hearing. Not now. I find the second degree murder sentence (15 years) fair and enough.

Racing with a boyfriend with alcohol and Valium in her system, kills not one but TWO children walking on a marked crosswalk, did not even stop after hitting them, shows absolutely no remorse after, in absolute denial and says she suffered enough. I feel for the parents of those boys - no parent have had to bury two of their children like that. Especially to someone who doesn’t even understand the value of life. 15 years minimum is way too low even if she’s already 61, nothing she can say or do would bring those kids back. 50 years minimum at least it should be. She obviously needs all that time to reflect because her air of privilege is astounding!

The California Board of Pardons is VERY unlikely to let her out at 15 years regardless of Good Behavior etc. So that means that she will likely be in her 80's before being released.
