The new (fake-you-outer) paint color with the tile looks great! (“If it doesn’t flow, it doesn’t go!”) I love how the color of the new bar stools coordinates with the window frame-and your living room. The tip on when to stop a paint color in a room was VERY helpful. Your new commissioned art by Liz Jardine is gorgeous! You lit it perfectly! Raising the ceiling height from your living room into your kitchen really made a huge difference! Oh, and the new sconces and desk lamp are on point-as always in Rebecca Robeson style! Thank you for another great video!

I would agree with you ADK… in the first video of this mini series I discuss this. In a perfect world I would have loved a taller window with more glass… however, given the cost to do that, I opted for a compromise to make it better. 😊 RR

@@rebeccarobeson1 just saw your mini video, and remembered you’re building your dream kitchen/home. This is a great kitchen and a new window would be great for resale. It’s not as expensive as you think. I turned my 2 foot basement window into two 5 feet windows. If you hire a great masonry company and they install the proper supporting steel beam you will be fine. Yes installing two light fixtures will also look nice but not as much as a new plain glass window. Think about it. If I can afford it I’m sure you can.

That brown trim color does not go with the kitchen color scheme. I may be wrong, but I don’t think your window trim color in the opposite living room area is brown either. Your kitchen is done to perfection my friend. However, their is one thing that would bug me and that is all your small appliances on your counter. I would think you would want to place them in a cabinet. It really surprised me. Sorry it’s just my opinion because I dislike seeing the appliances on counters. But I would love to have your kitchen. I wanted a black LaCornue stove and was told to stay away from them due to inefficiency and difficulty for repairs; and the same for the GE cafe stove. I ended up getting a black Frigidaire gourmet stove, but the look is just not the same. What are your thoughts on this, and what make stove do you have. After spending tons of money on the kitchen, the stove is a disappointment for me. Others do not see it that way.

Yes Lynn. You’re right! The cost of the kitchen did come in at 5k with the exception of the lifting of the header between the rooms. That put it over the 5k limit… but, it was so worth it to me. Glad you caught that 👊🏻 RR

She could have done a white window but quite frankly, from an elevated design point, the brown was the way to go and here’s why: It adds warmth, texture, and yes let’s the window remain a focal point when it absolutely should in this case. The colour also ties in with the trim around the rest of the house. When designing a space, you have to make sure it flows with the whole house. You have to look at it holistically. She absolutely made the right choice leaving the window brown - it’s gorgeous. AND narural colours and textures are in. All white kitchens are OUT.

I most love your ART piece especially with gray wall & the stools that you chose. But I have to wonder about your decision to leave the dark wood window frame above the sink? (Seems a more glaring contrast than the Natural Maple beneath your range hood.) Though the remainder of your home has GREAT dark woodwork... to me, the RH SCONCES would appear as MORE of a feature if the window frame was painted out in the same gray tone as the surrounding wall. And perhaps...dare I suggest..".sans " the clock....for a more "timeless" look. Best Wishes from the Peanut Gallery! (Alternatively...WHAT IF...you'd simply left the two cam lights over the sink & installed a valence/ shade/blind... like the one at your desk... with valence at level of top of your cabinets & shade partially drawn??? )

When I moved into my condo 10 yrs ago, I changed the dark tan/chocolate brown walls to neutral gray with a light blue accent on the lowered ceiling over my kitchen island (open plan unit). I didn't change the trim colour but now I found a colour that will work better with my birch kitchen cabinets (not changing those). I look forward to refreshing & finally getting rid of the dark tan.

All of the videos with your kitchen my question has been - why doesn't she paint the trim around the windows white or the wall color of grey? They stand out like a sore thumb in the brown color because everything is so light and crisp. The brown to me looks like an odd fit in this room. In my opinion adding sconces you simply drew attention to the "squattiness."

Instead of 2 sconces, a clock and a can, I would have done more sconces or a cool bar light across that area. Even directional lighting would be cool there.

Beautiful! The space between the desk and counter chairs would make me INsane. I’d have made the counter less deep there if possible. The height bothered you but the width was awful to me. And was not casing the opening a budget thing or a design preference? Too much detail would bring attention. I suppose.
