Yeah! That was one thing that was always frustrating! At that point, the forest is especially lively and beautiful and I always wanted to just stop and gaze at things. Still, it kind of adds to the symbolism: don't chase phantasms or you'll get lost in the woods!

I'm really in love with the vibe of this kind of " mystical peaceful heart of the forest ruins" vibes we find especially in the Zelda series, and you got it so right, the instruments are super well chosen, the enchanted lost woods where the blade of truth, courage and divine will, rests. It was my favourite place from Twilight Princess, would love to see a revisited version of it in another high graphics zelda game

I don't know why people dislike the Sacred Grove's theme, and you make it near impossible for me to understand why
@RebeccaETripp6 жыл бұрын
I suppose those who dislike it simply can't understand it or don't resonate with it. It has a distinct feeling which, although inherently pleasant to most people on a purely psychological/biological level definitely isn't going to gel with everyone.

I just have to say, Sacred Grove is the one and only fictional place I legitimately want to live and die in. It's so beautiful, so magical, and it's the kind of otherworldly place I'd love to spend my life in solitude. Thanks to that sentiment, this particular version of the music gives me the sense of magical nostalgia I used to feel a lot back when Twilight Princess shaped how I view dark fantasy, it makes me want to cry. I know I've rambled how I feel about this place, but there aren't any words I can use to truly describe the specific feelings I experience whenever I think of and hear Sacred Grove. Thank you so much for sharing such beauty. I'm hoping when my time is up, I find a forest just like this, and I want THIS specific one to play at my funeral.

05r Hard to believe since you don't show much knowledge. The article was extremly weak. Mostly based on subjective measurements like "Zelda charme" or "atmosphere". Those things are not objective. And he is expecting things from Breath of the Wild, wich weren't better in other Zeldas. For example, he is talking about that Breath of the Wild doesn't get harder. This is a bullshit argument, since Breath of the Wild has one of the hardest combats of all Zeldas. In former titles you never died. The enemies were to weak, not aggressiv enough and the AI didn't help either. And what is that about NPCs? Zelda rarely had deeply developed NPCs. Only main characters had some character. The story was also in other Zeldas not realy deep. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword being exceptions. Majoras Mask had a similar story, but you couldn't face the final boss right from the beginning. In Minish Cap nothing happened story wise. Ocarina of Time also had little story development.

I really like how serene and peaceful the song is at the beginning, then cheerful and carefree through the middle. Here I am again, two years later. I've recently lost my dad, and this specific cover is making me even more sentimental now. For context, there was a time when I was visiting his place, and I was building a floating village in Minecraft in his house. While I was doing so, I kept listening to this. Sacred Grove has always meant so much to me, but now, with the association of those magical memories, it's even more special now. I still stand by with what I said two years ago -- I still want this one to play at my funeral when my time comes. However, I want to buy this track before it happens, because I want to thank you for making such a beautiful piece that touches my soul to this day. Thank you so much

Such a tranquil piece, and quite delicate in parts, like the beginning. I feel like, in the way you introduce it, it's like I'm entering into a moment of sublime wonder. The whole piece has a sort of story to it, too - here's my own interpretation on it: someone enters into a magical forest, and is filled with wonder and mystery. At 1:09 there's a sense of play - perhaps the person gaining their courage and exploring, or else there's a playful forest sprite who shows up. At 1:48 it's like the person starts asking questions about the nature of this place. From there, there's kind of a back and forth between the forest/sprite and the person. Perhaps at 2:53 the person becomes thoughtful. At 3:11 with the singing, there's a renewed sense of wonder, perhaps connection to this place. A deepening mystery. But still, questions remain as they walk through. The playfulness becomes subdued. At around 3:50, there's a sort of sadness and longing, the person's own perhaps, that remains despite this world they've found themselves in. In the background, it troubles them, though they enjoy this place. 4:41 the tranquilness starts to lull them to sleep. A strangeness still abounds that surfaces at 5:00, perhaps the person's still unresolved, troubled feelings, but eventually it subsides in this place, leaving only the sounds of the tranquil forest. I by no means think this is the only or intended interpretation, but I thought I'd share it since I feel there is a story-like quality to this piece and the various places it goes ^^ Overall, I loved it - thanks for sharing, Rebecca
@RebeccaETripp6 жыл бұрын
This is a very thoughtful and lovely interpretation! You honor me with the amount of detail you put into this. ^_^ I'd say that all these things are meant to be contained within the piece. The noise at 5:00, to me, was the sigh of spirits lingering in the wood. It could be the noise of them evaporating, once put to rest, or lingering on, haunting the woodland. It also represents skullkid's enchantments slipping away; this is followed by peaceful sobriety.

This might be a stupid question, but have you ever considered what kind of input you might have if you ever were part of a game designing team? It's a long time since I last played Twilight Princess, I actually played it a lot when it was released, but not ever since really. I really have half-forgotten that Skullkid even played a part in this game, so I searched a Letsplay TP in KZbin and watched that Sacred Grove section of the game once more. It kind of got me thinking, they did allright I guess, but in terms of depth of the music, aesthetic and atmosphere, they could have done even better. Which, again, got me thinking that if YOU were part of that team, would you have changed any things about this segment of the game that leads to the Master Sword? I think these kind of things would really be something you would excel that, I mean your video description is so good, (as many people already pointed out) and of course the music is good and the even music video with the vivid colors is very aesthetical. What I am getting at should that section of the game be more.. maybe psychologically disturbing even or just more dark in general. I am thinking that Twilight Princess with its dark theme could be even darker, but then again we have to respect that Zelda games are supposed to be played at a fairly young age, so would those kind of settings be too disturbing for young players? I am not too sure. I mean Majora's Mask is a very disturbing and creepy game with death and other sad themes present at all times, Twilight Princess on the other hand seems to be dark just because the colors are limited and brightness is set low. When I was younger I just loved Zelda games as they were, but now I've begun to spot a lot flaws in its game design and feel many things could've been done even better. I still like the direction the series is going to, I think the next Zelda should be something similar to Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time. Breath of the Wild was a nice experiment, but now the series should return back to its roots. They really should hire you, or people like you Rebecca, in bringing back the nostalgia of old. Breath of the Wild was a breath of fresh air, but it didn't really captivate the real Zelda essence. Is this, or these things, something that bother you as well?
@joonashanninen89196 жыл бұрын
I think Botw has no soul. And that's kind of beautiful, actually. The empty space and everything being in ruins with only a bit of piano played is quite fascinating in my opinion. Of course, the dungeons and all the rest is repetitive, dull and bad, but yeah. Hopefully the story elements and other traditional Zelda stuff is more present in the next game. Would love to see Ganondorf in his human form once more, and more complex story and character relationships.
@RebeccaETripp6 жыл бұрын
I'm working on a game project or two right now. :3 I'll be sure to let everyone know if/when they see the light of day. The Sacred Grove scene, I think, is delightfully deceptive. It has dark aspects but they're masked under the fey glamor of the skullkid. That's how it should be! It's meant to be a kind of return to childhood, thus the "dark" things are going to be skinned that way too. The fact that it's such a departure from the grittier things we see before it actually adds to its unique creepiness. There's a certain uncanny quality that's separate from the alien-ness of the twilight sections- and it also recalls something far more ancient than most of Hyrule in TP. I don't know what I'd change about this particular segment if I was directing, but I would definitely alter certain things in TP. Most notably, certain things in the art style, as I feel that the character designs aren't entirely consistent. I would also shorten the length of time it takes before Link can leave Ordon and space out some of story scenes a little more. Though I probably wouldn't choose to make any existing Zelda games darker, per se, this is only based on a personal preference. It's probably obvious to you that I prefer things to be on the lighter side. ^^ That said, I don't think that making the games VERY slightly darker than they already are would harm children. Generally, the series gives young people the tools they need to get through the darkness. It enables us to explore our fears and trauma in a safe and comforting environment filled with beautiful faeries who magically heal us, a plethora of friendly allies, emotionally medicinal music, scenery and colors and a blank slate, yet extremely likable hero, whose main ability is that he's "brave". For that reason, the darkness in games like TP, LA or MM is very relatable and I believe we could handle more. Zelda, as a franchise, knows how to be "light" in the right ways and "dark" in the right ways. I think the balance, overall, is exactly what it should be, but I'd be interested to explore the series with marginal differences.
@joonashanninen89196 жыл бұрын
That's a nice assessment. It's curious really when you think about it. You cannot label The Legend of Zelda as a "dark" or "light" game, because it's neither and it's both. It exists somewhere in the middle, or perhaps it leans more towards the lighter side, but certainly darker themes are present in every game. I actually cannot say what Zelda game is my favorite, because I like them all and equally I cannot say what I like most about Zelda, because, well, I kinda like everything about Zelda! It's difficult to describe Zelda with just a few words or a word, you'd probably have to say something abstract like "epic". I like to think the point of The Legend of Zelda is to inspire, and LoZ accomplishes that in so many different ways it's fantastic! LoZ soundtracks are so impressive, because it's easy to identify a lot of emotions within the soundtrack, and especially pieces like this that represent both dark and light worlds are probably the most intriguing. Have you guys listened to Yoonchi Ya's Zelda playlists? I think they are wonderful in terms of how she picks Zelda songs under a specific theme. And it kind of demonstrates how great Zelda OST's are, that you can do such listing without problems. Rebecca, your channel says more than the rest in this regard, I think for a musician LoZ is an endless source of inspiration and things to resonate with! :D

also do you believe in an ether? that isn't tainted by corruption. the mind really does wonder

More or less, yes. I think that there is probably more to reality than bass/material. I believe there is likely a platonic, unified state of existence in which there is perfection.

+05r she mentioned something about speaking in bass like phrases. my paragraphing is not unlike my speech so I figured... maybe she kinda made some kinda assumption about me n muh phrasing

also if you're into Japanese stuff pick up a copy of Japan's most famous Japanese orange dinosaur "Gon". he's just oh-so lovable. and angry. and then if that was alright you might be able to remember him from tekken 3

I don't like the choice of woodwind instrument. It creates too much excess wind that just sounds like noise.

This is still an amazing piece. I think it all blends together perfectly.
