I’m not sure if I’ve made this comment before, so I’m sorry if I sound like a broken record, but don’t show the address of the Walmart that you shop at. Just for safety reasons, especially since you’ve spoken about your husband sometimes being out of town. I’m sorry if I’m overstepping.

To be honest I used to skip your videos because I typically don’t shop at Dollar Tree. But now that I have removed my nose from the air I realize what you do on your channel and I think it’s great. What caught my eye was the 1st Walmart video in this series. Not because it’s for Walmart but because it’s meal planning for two people for $50. Information like this is extremely helpful with the cost of food these days; so thank you for what you do. And to answer your question. I say if you like your name then keep it. It’s apart of what you do and it is catchy. Now please excuse me so I can find more of your content 😊

Same. My husband has diabetic neuropathy and had to leave his job of 35 years three years ago and had to go on disability. I got hurt at work a year and a half ago and have been on Workers Comp. Money isn’t as disposable as it used to be. Even though we paid off our house and three cars prior to our medical events, and we still have retirement savings, we needed to budget more wisely. I came across this channel and I watched a few of the videos. I learned so much from just watching those few videos and I had that overwhelming feeling of relief. Groceries are our biggest expense next to health insurance. We pay more for a month’s worth of groceries than we do for a month’s worth of electricity! We are a family of three, we have a dog and a cat. Thankfully, we live in CT which doesn’t tax non prepared food and we have many grocery stores within our suburb so I am able to shop the sales at each store. I order online and have my groceries delivered to my home which is convenient for us since physically going to the store to shop is a bit difficult. One of the stores I never thought about food shopping from is DT. I’ve bought herbs and spices, movie night candies and water additives from the food and beverage section before, but never from the refrigerated section. After seeing how many delicious looking budget friendly and healthy meals I’ve seen made on this channel, I am thankful and excited to try. This channel is truly a blessing.😊

This was my favorite format among your videos. I don’t have budgeting constraints for meal prep, but I like the way you take a limited amount of ingredients and make them work through the week. I always find myself cooking the same thing over and over again. I also like watching your videos while I’m cooking myself. Feel free to keep the name and make content that makes you happy. I’m sure those of us who subscribe and watch your videos aren’t here specifically because it’s dollar tree content so much as we like your videos and what you do with them! Thanks for all the wonderful content!

Honestly, Dollar Tree Dinners is catchy and is honest to what your focus is. Just because you try to be versatile doesn't mean you should change your name. People can apply your ideas no matter the store they go to because my area Dollar Tree doesn't have much protein. I live in a suburban area and we have a ton of choices. But the thoughtful ideas are, personally, what I am after.

Holding back part of an ingredient to add to something else later.... My grannie would always hold back a 1/3 of whatever ingredients she was using that day. Bit of onion, bit of meat, bit of veggies, etc. It would go into a bin in the freezer. By the end of the week, there would be quite a bit to make a full dinner. Make it into soup or scramble, or casserole. It was a great way to use up all the little bits & bobs left over. She did this with fruit as well, and it went into making mixed fruit salad, jello, or a crumble or muffin...

Stay with Dollar Tree Dinners. You have built a brand and name recognition is important. When I see a video from you, I smile and I'm happy. I expect many others feel the same. You have made the name stand for something special. Also, it's ok to branch out. Waffle House sells more than Waffles, Red Lobster sells more than lobster. You make the content that pleases your heart, we will watch bc we watch for you and your content. I personally watch you fix things with ingredients I don't even like - bc I like you! One more thing. I'm learning too late in life to listen to my own judgment and less to that of others. You are doing a great job, please don't worry so much about what others say. There are people in the world who had rather talk about others than do things themselves.

One of the strengths of your channel is the consistency and authenticity of purpose. There are way too many content creators doing foolish challenges where they go out and buy up the things that people in need actually depend on on having available. Stock at Dollar Tree is not regular and consistent, so these gals with their, "oh look at me, I can be poor for a day or two" challenges are not doing anybody a service. There is no reason for you to rebrand. You make your purpose clear and are true to it. Plus, for some of us, it would be harder to remember and find your channel under a new name.

For my syrup (I am diabetic), I blend frozen fruit like strawberries, as you have there, or blueberries, almond or walnuts or pecans (I have a variety of nuts in the freezer), put the blend in a pan with 1 tb of butter, fry it up to heat and pour over french toast. Yep, that is a great syrup and best part is, you don't need to put any sugar in it. And you just gave me a idea of stuffed bell peppers! OH, those are so good!

I like the name Dollar Tree Dinners. I also like that you stray away from Dollar Tree to buy your food. I live in a smallish town with 1 Dollar tree and several Dollar generals. None of them are very nice and dont have great food selection, so i dont go to them. We have walmart, 2 aldi's and 2 Giant Eagles. As someone who is disabled & tight on money, i pay for Walmart in home delivery out of necessity. I shop there almost exclusively bc all the other stores only deliver thru doordash or instacart, which is really expensive. However, no matter what store you feature, there is always alot of useful info that i can use, even if i dont shop at that store. Keep doing what you're doing, your content, and you, are amazing! ❤

Hi Rebecca! Robin here. Your channel has grown exponentially in the last year. Congratulations! However because you are branching out into money saving meals from other venues doesn’t mean you should change your channel name. The premise of Dollar Tree Dinners is still the same. Making it possible to eat well with the resources one has available. You inspire those who watch your channel to be optimistic and think differently about what is available to them.I’ve seen a few other channels, hop on the re-branding train and it never seems to end very well. Asking you to change the name of your channel is like asking you to change your child’s name. Your channel is like your child. You have nurtured it and seen it grow and thrive. What you did with the smoked sausages I always do with meat. If I'm making spaghetti I fry the big pkg of ground beef. Once fried, I take out 2 small scoops and seperate in 2 bowls. One get pizza seasoning, one gets taco seasoning, freeze in baggies. Then I can later use it for pizza or nachos on a tighter budget week. Same with the vegetables, keep aside 1/2 a pepper, a bit on onion, save 3 mushrooms. It all goes into baggies for later for pizza, omelettes, nachos, a quick rice, etc.

Dollar Tree Dinners and More (Adventures in making budget-friendly but easy and tasty meals , often while shopping in food deserts) is what you do and do better than so many others. You definitely don't need to rebrand--you stay true to your intent even when you shop elsewhere. It is so obvious you have a passion for helping people save money while shopping in places there are limited choices. What keeps me watching? You have integrity and treat your audience respectfully. I have never seen you make something that obviously has little flavor and then add a handful of quality ingredients not from your budget to make it edible, then casually remark "but salt and pepper is just fine if you don't have this fresh mozzarella, home-made pesto, and roasted garlic I just happen to have in the fridge!" You stay true to your budget and come across as authentic and relatable. You like what you are doing and that makes you a joy to watch, really!

These two grocery hauls combined make a fabulous argument for shopping every two weeks, and mixing up the two meal plans for greater day-to-day variety without extra expense. Being able to spread out chicken dishes, rice dishes, and/or dishes with peas a little more evenly would feel like you're eating a wider range of foods, even if the only change is the order of operations, not the money spent. Sure, some of the chicken will have to spend some days in the freezer between initial prep work and use, and the meals with fresh tomato will need to be scheduled to happen before they age out, but those are minor inconveniences in exchange for feeling like you're eating a more interesting diet on the same slim budget.

This!!! I get paid bi weekly so I buy the bulk of our meals 2 weeks at a time. I actually just built a Walmart list for 2 weeks plus a couple "extras" and prefertial swaps (such as real butter, Greek vs regular yogurt, and carb friendly tortillas ect. ) and came in around 70-75 for the 2 weeks. We already had the chicken and I'm going to use canned veggies instead because we have a surplus, and already have plenty of coffee on the shelf. I did select a creamer that isn't the sugar free vanilla we already have so we can have some variety. And I cook for 3 usually.

Besides, there are always going to be complaints no matter what you do. I appreciate you visiting the different stores. I’m in Canada and our dollar stores aren’t as big into groceries as American ones are. I watch and get lots of ideas but I’m always translating the content into a grocery store like Safeway. It’s a treat when you do this kind of thing and I love seeing the fresh veggies! Though, I couldn’t live without carrots. 🥕 Have a great day!

When I see dollar tree dinners I think “meals on a budget” like the Dollar Tree store and not particularly shopping exclusively at Dollar Tree. So the name is perfect for you and your channel. You’re sharing information on how to shop wisely within a limited budget.

Don't change your name. I am a retired, disabled senior citizen cooking for just 2 now. Thank you.I hope you see this I don't know how to tag you

I'm a new viewer & think your name fine. I have a couple cooking tips for you. Pre cooked potatoes make the best Hashbrowns. Boiled or baked & refrigerated is the trick. Dice or shred, peeled or not, your choice. Just don't have the pan too hot & wait for that crust to form. Tip #2: French Toast is better if you oven dry the bread to evaporate moisture. Leaving the bread to stale overnight just drives the moisture into the starches in the bread & it sogs out when it's heated. (Microwave an air staled slice vs a heat dried slice. Your toaster on lowest setting will do. After bread pops up, unplug toaster & put bread back down. Doesn't waste heat in the toaster or electricity. Repeat as needed.

I'm always astounded by places without sales tax on food. I've been paying something close to ten percent food tax my whole life. And don't change your name unless Dollar Tree lawyers tell you to! If they sue, change tree to store. You can always specify that it's dollar tree salt and oil when you do a malwart budget. :D Maybe that will appease the haters.

Wow 10% tax on food is INSANE. I live in TX and we don't have tax on food. I think we would revolt if the state tried to do that. The government is disgusting trying to make a dime off necessities you need to live. Watch out soon they will try to tax you to breathe!

I'm astounded by places that have sales tax on food. It's such a basic item that everyone needs. In my state there is no tax on food, except if it is carry out, like from the deli, tax is only on things like TP, paper towels, shsmpoo, soap, laundry supplies, etc.

Dollar tree meals since thats what you mostly do and is what got my attention to your channel in the beginning. I do like that you branch out occaisionly!!!! I admit many times i go get your dollar recipes at walmart lolol. Or out of my fairly well stocked pantry. I challenge myself to make $1 meals using previously bought ingredients then also figure out what the current price would be if i bought the stuff now!!!! Usually 1.50 to 2.00 now per serving. Mostly i will make 3 or 4 to 6serving per cook. And sometime put 2 servings in a quart jars in the freezer for meals when i dont feel like cooking but still hav a really good meal!!!!

Dollar Tree Dinners is sort of your brand now - and if your content encompasses 70%-80% of that, I think it's valuable to keep your name as "Dollar Tree Dinners." It's catchy, a LOT of people know you via. this name and you don't have to go through the growing pains of a rebrand with a new name. You also do great with your disclaimers when you venture from only Dollar Tree Dinners and put a lot of thought and communication into reasonings.

19:53 I love the Dollar Tree Dinners❤ Money saving meals is also nice, but I don’t care if you have 20-30% other content then Dollar Tree, and still have the same name. I like that you have some from other places too, especially since we don’t have anything like Dollar Tree here in Norway. Walmart are more relatable, but I find that I enjoy everything from the Dollar Tree too. So both name is okay for me, I just love the content 😊

We use the Zatarrain's Red Beans & Rice with Turkey Kielbasa (cuts some fat, but doesnt affect the flavor because the rice is so good) and add a bit of Colby Jack cheese and some diced tomatoes on top for that fresh pop. It is a go-to dinner in my house. So glad you like the flavor as much as I do.

Leftovers can be tossed into a Saran coated baking dish that is serving sized, and frozen then wrapped and stacked or tossed into a large zip full of the same item and labeled. That allows variety in other weeks.

A note for people shopping at Walmart on a budget: use the app and always compare prices. As someone who works there, I'm telling you that price changes are not always reflected on the shelf. However, checking the price in the app is pretty simple and the price shown will be accurate. Also, since price changes don't always come through all at once, compare the pricing on things like eggs, milk, butter, etc. Sometimes buying multiple smaller packages ends up being cheaper.

I’d keep the name you have, with that being said I’m loving the new videos from Walmart.. as my small town Dollar Tree doesn’t always have a great selection plus since they added that extra .25 it really isn’t my cheapest option on most things, so Walmart or Aldi is usually my go to but there are a few DT items that I always have on hand! Great videos and I thoroughly enjoy watching them! 😊

I LOVE your channel just as it is. The name is what drew me to your channel in the first place. There are some other "budget" channels out there; but because Dollar Tree sizes are small I felt that a Dollar Tree budget meal show would be more appropriate for a one-person family. The other channels have recipes for 4 or 6 people or huge crock pot amounts using appliances that don't make sense in a 1 person household. Hope this helps. Thank you again for how your channel is named AND structured❣️ LOVE and Appreciate your efforts and all the work you put into this for the rest of us❣️ I too am a foodie. 😊❤❤❤

I am not sure why I stumbled upon your videos, but you are really doing a service for the community. My mother thankfully raised me looking for sales/using coupons/budgeting so that is second nature to me. But a lot of people do not know where to start. One of the biggest problems that I see people have is they buy a food item for one recipe, but then let it rot because they do not know how to utilize it in various ways. Thank you for highlighting how to do that! If you have not already done so- maybe in the future you would like to implement videos where in addition to set budget for the week there is a separate budget for staple or longterm items. Like spices/condiments/pickles. Then you can show how to incorporate them into the weekly dishes. Those purchases increase the weekly budget but then can be utilized for months and elevate your dishes! Keep up the hreat work 🎉

One time I was hungry for tacos and also was low on groceries. I had couple cans black beans, canned corn, couple raw potatoes, flour tortillas, and onion, also couple pkts taco red sauce. I diced and browned the potatoes, opened and heated the black beans, corn, tortillas, chopped the onion. So made some tacos using the beans, corn potatoes, onion, red sauce and they were so good!! I'd never had black beans before!! But I'd make those tacos again!! Sometimes I even crave them!😅 One reason it probably takes longer for the hash browns to brown with the peppers and onions is because they have water in them. I'd want buttered toast with my breakfast, and the other meals, I'm a bread person 😀!

Yes!👍 Keep the name ❤ using dollar and dinners in the title implies that you are watching your dollars to make your dinners. I like that it is catchy and easy to remember. Another reason would be that in walking distance of my house for groceries is the gas station, dollar tree and then dollar general way before a bigger store. I live off the ideas you are trying out and help me frame up my budget.

It's a 50/50 on the name thing for me. As a person with a marketing degree you have the positive impact of the name, plus the possibility of future opportunities up to a sponsorship type thing. I don't get the vibe you are a sponsorship person, but one of the benefits to at least a relationship with companies like that is your bottom line isn't put at risk if they at least offer to compensate for an honest approach. Not spending money is also saving money also :) On another end, there is a sense of freedom in being able to stay in your zone but encompass more with a broader name. Something like "Dining on a dollar" hits both the idea of what the channel is going for in the sense of eating and budget. I don't know if that name is being used, but I do suggest something like that. Having a broader name like that would open you to an audience who might see a brand such as Dollar Tree and not give you a chance because they don't shop there. The unfortunate judge a book by the cover thing. Keep on doing what you do though. You are absolutely relatable in sharing your experience, and while it's obviously edited here and there for lenght, you do a wonderful job showing someone accessible and relatable while also putting a little charm behind it. I absolutely adore the channel, and I share your videos with my 16 year old daughter. While we baby her and feed her, I'm also getting comfortable as a father with the idea she may seek independent living sooner or later and a channel like yours gives her both direction and also the ability to think abstractly about how to not only survive on a budget, but thrive and enjoy it. You rock, keep on doing this whatever name you decide to keep or use :)
