Hua Chenyu is a child prodigy of music who had a difficult childhood. His parents divorced when he was 2 and he went to live with his father. He was diagnosed as autistic and lived a very isolated life for a long time. This song is about his escape from isolation. In interviews of Hua you can see how unique he is. He views the world from his own unique perspective. He's very childlike and lives with no worries. He can deal with his fame without stress because he has no worries. Hua said if people decide they don't want my music that's ok. I'll just go away. He doesn't create commercial music he creates unique HuaHua music. But he's been incredibly successful and is now one of the biggest stars in China. Hua's record producer at first tried to push Hua to write more commercial music. Hua said no, this is the music I write. His producer now says he no longer tells Hua what to do when it comes to music. Hua always has his own vision of what he wants and Hua will not be deterred by anyone.

I’ve been listening/watching this young man for a month now. Also reading about his childhood and views on life, family, etc. His music has me hooked. I love him and his songs so much. But, I sincerely find it hard to believe that this sweet soul is not affected by public opinion and that he lives without worries. I am glad that he marches to his own beat but I think it’s a cover to hide the pain and sorrow he still harbors. Bless his soul. I am happy that he is doing very well professionally but I pray that he comes to find comfort within himself someday and realizes his true worth in this world. I’m sure he has changed so many lives. I hope he knows that. And I hope he is surrounded by true and caring people that love him as well. ❤️ Peace to this wonderful human being. I look forward to more.

@@kgem5621 He has actually said that his biggest wish for himself is to be free of worries. Not happiness, but just freedom from worries. I read somewhere he did go through a depressive phase in recent years, but strong support from people close to him pulled him out from any abyss he might have spiraled into. It's one of the motivations for his trilogy of songs about mental illness (esp. depression) and healing from that - "I really want to love this world", "Madhouse" and "Conversation with Martian Children" - which he performed over three nights of Mars Concert in 2019 (If I'm not mistaken).

I love how you said that the voice is such a versatile and beautiful ‘instrument’. Your interpretation is just like Huahua’s personal philosophy. In fact, he didn’t sing when he first started music. When he was younger he tended to make and rearrange music instead. But because none of the existing instruments could produce the sounds he wanted, he began learning to sing just to perfect his music.

Hua Hua is in my opinion a protagy of unmatched genius there is not one song that I have heard sing that he has not nailed he sings in Chinese and English exclusively .... hold on too your hat here are so many songs to come... This song was about his childhood and being left alone for so many years since the age of 2 he was able to write this song about his journey back from the brink of utter loneliness and become a social being again .. the next song you should hear is...... Ordinary Path...... then...... It's beyond just singing and voice although he mastered the vocal part People consider hua chenyu dimash version of 2018 edition of I'm a singer. Although he won't reach those insane high notes like dimash. He's more versatile. Hua Chenyu is such a talented, amazing, cute and shy person. He performed this song cause growing up his parents were always away and he didn't get to feel loved and he grew up like that and he became socially ackard, a closed individual and not able to open up to people. That is why the song saids that I want you to be like close to me, accompany me but not know who I am. He was a very angry child and you can see how frustraded he was in the song. He takes you on the journey of his childhood through the song's emotions. But don't worry he said he is okay now. Thank goodness. But I didn't know the lyrics he was singing at first but I too said that it sounds like a villain at the point when their mind broke and they first become the villain. His version of this song can be used in a musical play as the villain's song I tell you. But react more to him. He is so artistic and amazing. If you got touched by this song you should react to his Dad I'm Home but find the ones with subs so you can read what he is actually saying. Get ready to cry though. I cry every time.

This video was very captivating I must tell ya. It is so very nice to listen to you (even with the little bit of rambling;)). I think the reason why I find it captivating, is because the words just fly out of you and it (at least seems like) you find it hard not to just let it out right away. For me I find it hard to get why you apologise for pausing the video to react and review, when that is exactly what we or at least I as a viewer of yours wants to watch/hear. I love this song because it emotes something relatable but difficult to express any other way. His technique is amazing and the arrangement is incredible. I like how you say the audience and signer are feeling together because that explains nicely how he masterfully negotiates license to emotionally break-down during the crescendo. That negotiation starts with showing the pain, the angelic highs, him pulling in and out after sustaining the long note, and the frantic venom which he spits out between his high notes. When he goes crazy near the end we know it's part of the journey. We totally buy it. Amazing! If you want an emotional song that shows a lot of singing technique and crosses different styles, try Tan Weiwei's "Ulaan Baataar Nights". It's a song dedicated to her dad who died when she was young. You'll hear traditional Mongolian (male), Tibetan and contemporary rock voices all in perfect fusion. Find a version with English subtitles and you'll understand why you hear the wind chimes. She almost doesn't make the final line.

Theatrical, dramatic, intense, electrifying.., exactly! 😄😄 This is one of his best performances. i actually searched for the original song just to compare the two because Hua Hua said in the interview that he was worried and even expected that he'll be at the bottom four because his arrangement and version of the song is very different from the original and that the audience might not appreciate his piece. This was one of Hua Hua's best performances, it was brilliant. He seems like China meets Frank Zappa and Tom Waits and a rare freedom in expression where purpose is everything in the music. Together with Dimash I find him the most interesting within popular music I have heard in a very long time. Must be a joy and a study for a voice coach to listen to. No rules, just whatever fits the expression he is trying to reach. brilliant. I see this coming with some of this new generation, like also Tokio Myers. Very refreshing after all this machine music

I think I understand how you feel. This performance is very... surreal.. almost like a dreamscape or nightmare, or something in between. It has a lot of tension and draws you in.. you're riveted. I could imagine this song overlaid on a movie track, and it would fit in with a villainous scene.

Coach, twas about time you reacted to Hua Hua. He is an incredible, all around artist that uses his voice, the music and his stage presence in a truly superlative way. He is also an expert on re-arranging the music to well known songs and making them something completely new, fresh and interesting (the performance above was a great example of that). Do more from him, you will be stunned not only due to his musicality but also because each of his performances is really, REALLY unique (the guy is a rock singer at heart but knows no boundaries when it comes to genres, music fusion and theatrics). I like your emotional yet professional reactions, some vocal coach only concentrate on the technique which does not connect to me personally. Keep more Hua Chen Yu coming, he is super versatile and a true gem as an artist. He don't just sung, he bring you through music journey. Rebecca, you are such a joy. Hua is a favorite of mine, second only to Dimash. I read that when Hua does the whoooos in this song it is supposed to represent crying. He is battling insanity and loneliness in this song. This is not the best song for your first but something great. I would recommend Nanping Evening Bells a duet by Hua before I then ask you to react to Dad, I'm home. Hua talks as well as sings in this performance originally done by someone else but is so authentic it is easy for a person to think he is talking about himself. So you understand the pronouncian of his name, it is who ah chinyou. Don[t laugh, I hope it helps.

To really appreciate Hua Hua you need to pay attention to the lyrics. The words are tied into his musical approach of clashing hard and soft, traditional and modern, male-female voices. He is one of the most poetic songwriters in the world today. Many great singers are just that, Hua Hua is a songwriter.

I'm a Cancer, love to sail and am a Massive space/NASA geek. Holy wow! Not only was that dynamic, I'd never heard anything like it. The release breath, not just air he pushed out but an audible delicious breath of air at the end. It shot chills straight up my spine to the back of my head. I felt a story thru his technique. It was hard to kinda glance at you reacting because I was reading the lyrics and just.... Wow. You were lovely as ever but I could see the excitement it gave you. There is more he's done.
