I'm telling you that following Taemin for more than a decade, his studio or CD voice is the same as his live and actual vocal, I should know better coz I'm used to watching him live. If you're telling me the percentage of auto tune being used in the recording is that much, well probably Taemin and other SHINee members have the power to auto tune their own voices during live smh... and btw, I am a SHINee fan which Taemin belonged to, and they aren't just Kpop, they are also Jpop artists, and my knowledge in Kpop artists is very limited only. I follow those who are real artists/musicians only so you know. And even if I am called a Kpop fan so what is your problem with that? You are being racist and sarcastic, Kpop is on top by means of music production accept it or not. What you see on a Criminal MV is one friggin' example. Note that it was shot during COVID19 pandemic and with limited resources and restrictions, the MV production still turned out so well and awesome. Don't argue with me, ask or watch majority of the KZbinrs who already reacted on Criminal MV.

He debuted in 2008 at 14 and actually was tone death. He got a lot of hate cause of that. But he powered through and practice and trained his voice. Now his making everybody die with his voice and dance don’t forget dance

I have attended his concerts for more than 50 times (including his solo and his group SHINee). Believe me, his live sounds exactly the same as in CD. His group SHINee is recognized as the live performance king in Korea. People call them CDNee but in my opinion, their live sounds even better than in CD. I saw many reactors watched their live performances on YT and said they sounds too good to be true. This is just their talent to sing live this well. :)

Taemin is actually really great at singing live while dancing, he does it in a very intelligent way so that he doesn't sound strained or loose his breath. He has been doing this for over ten years and even though he is widely considered to be the best dancer in Kpop, his original Kpop group was actually known for their live singing, not for their dancing (they their dancing is great too). I think you would also spontaneously combust if you saw him doing Move or Want, I recommend checking either one of those live so you can see how he handles himself live, you won't be disappointed. I also really recommend checking out his group SHINee's live music. Their song Selene 6.23 is really incredibly beautiful live kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYu5iKJoe5icl9E as is their song Sleepless Night kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWikq6yCetGmjqs A really fun game to play with SHINee is "who is supposed to be the rapper and who is supposed to be the dancer?" Every member of SHINee is capable of being a main vocal of another kpop group so trying to identify which ones are "rappers" is actually really difficult, unless they are rapping... I would love to see you react to Jung Eunji. She has quite a few beautiful covers and her voice is utterly heavenly. She has a cover of Into The Unknown I think you would die for. I hope you have a wonderful day. I have recently developed a problem with my voice and lost all my previous vocal control, my voice just breaks now when I try to sing. I am seeing an Ear Nose and Throat specialist, I hope I will get my voice back, I miss singing for fun.

His original group *is known for their live performances (they are still active and will be for a long time) but they were also one of the first idol groups to be recognized for their dancing skills and difficult choreographies back in 2009-2010.

Start with breath control! Something similar happened to me years ago. Proper breath control leads to proper resonance, which equals a strain free and easy voice. Plus releasing tongue, jaw hinge, neck, and shoulder tightness. Best!

Taemin is a big fan of Michael Jackson. With Rain ( another Korean performer, dancer singer, producer and actor) they both inspired him to begin to dance when he was still a boy. He learned by himself how to dance before auditioning to SM Entertainment ( one of the three music majors in Kores) and was recruited at twelve, debuted at 15 in Shinee as the youngest and was the first SM band idol to debut a solo career 6 years later at Twenty. The first song they have done with shinee he has no line at all, unable to sing because of his changing voice. We are lucky he didnt hurt his vocal cords when he exercised so much ( even having nose bleed ) after feeling frustration about it. He was very criticized when he was young because was unable to maintain his voice while singing. He is a perfectionist and overcame it. Sometimes his performances was too straining to sing while dancing on his solo concert so some of his songs have registered part when he only dances to avoid being to breathless.

I don't know if anyone has covered this in the replies, but when Taemin first (reluctantly) debuted he had no voice at all. He was in a resting period but was still pushed for debut. So much so that he actually has no lines in Shinee's debut song "Replay". He worked really hard to be where he's at with his vocals. A lot of training and effort has gone into finding a voice he can work with and I think it works very well with the kind of music he releases. Also, I'm glad our reactions to everything he does is very similar. I'm a lesbian but I adore Taemin and since he released Criminal I can't stop thinking about it or him lmao. P.S. Of course I know "Can't Get You Outta My Head", as a Brit it's a CLASSIC. P.S.S. You should definitely react to the live version of Sexuality. Having heard Taemin perform live, I can confirm he’s amazing. Great vocal stability and control, especially given how rigorous his dancing is. And he’s grown so much! When he debuted he wasn’t the strongest singer, but he dedicated himself to the craft in order to grow. I personally love Sayonara Hitori by him. Additionally, you might enjoy 11AM by Junsu and VIXX’s cover of Havana

As for singing training, when Taemin joined SM, people told him he's tone deaf and he should only sing chorus. His voice was not featured for his group's debut song Replay. But he didn't want to give up and started practicing on his own. (He wasn't allowed for singing class yet). Slept at 2am and got up around 6 or 7am to practice both singing and dancing. He pushed himself so hard to the point where he had nose bled every day. He was just a high school kid! What a talented and extremely hard working artist.

an old recommendation is taemin's performances in immortal song 2. (a show where artists covered other songs?) The videos are 6 years old, but you can see his progression a better. Taemin was originally scouted because of his dancing, but now both his dancing and vocals (and visuals) are just so powerful. I've been a fan since 2009, and have seen his progression over the years. I am so proud of him.

Thank you for checking out the legendary Taemin. He's the youngest member of SHINee, a 2nd gen. Kpop group that debuted in 2008 when Taemin was just 14 (main dancer). At just 27, with 12 years in the business, he has attained many accomplishments in his career. SM Ent. chose Taemin as the first male soloist from an active boy group from their company to go solo (despite his member hyung, Jonghyun, being the best vocalist in Korea at the time); He has also debuted 4 different times in 3 generations of Kpop - which is a record; was the first Kpop artist to address androgyny and gender equality with respect to dancing (males/females should all be able to dance anything and together) with his iconic song "Move". It caused quite a sensation/fascination within the industry. He was also the first artist SM's CEO, Lee Soo Man, approached regarding Super M. Mr. Lee calls Taemin SM's "Ace" for a reason. With each comeback he pushes the boundaries of Kpop even more. He never uses autotune. SHINee did use it early in their careers for effects because it was popular and hip back then (they definitely didn't need it), but stopped using it because they felt it was becoming overused. Taemin also sings live during performances about 85% of the time. The other 15% use of the backing track is due to his heavy choreo and the need for lung capacity. However, you always know when Taemin is using the backing track because he doesn't bother with lip-synching during those times. He figures his fans know why he's relying on the BT while he's dazzling us with his dancing, and he really doesn't care to "pretend" to be superhuman. I hope you will continue to explore Taemin's music. With 12 years, he has a vast discography including SHINee, solo work, and now Super M. He's really a genre unto himself. We call it TPop...lol. If you want a chance to just listen to his voice and not be distracted by an admittedly stunning music video, I highly recommend Clockwork and Strangers from the same album as Criminal. His voice is just so pure I think you would find them really beautiful even though they're slower by kpop standards

Taemin is considered as a God in Kpop. He is absolutely amazing! He is known as the Korean Michael Jackson. He’s been in this industry since 2008, when he was 14 and has (as other Kpop idols) had many years of training defore his debut. Not only is he naturally talented but he has worked hard for it as well. This is why he is viewed so highly by everyone else. There’s 3 idols that are considered gods in Kpop and he’s one of them.

I love that a vocal coach react to Taemin. I wouldn't say in his early days he was a bad singer, but he had a much smaller register and less vocal control.
