I do appreciate your concern and your message RahimMRyan and you're right I have nothing of value here except my 21 year-old cat who if I moved would kill him, and I cannot nor will I do that, because not only do I love him with all my heart he is my child, he is my four-legged kid, and has been for 21 years and I have to think of him, because it would kill him, he is a Ferrell, and has been on Prozac for years, and cats don't like change anyway and he's way past that he's over the the top with that issue and like I said he's way too old to move! Like I said, I totally agree with you but I'll have to do what I have to do from here first! You are an awesome person and I appreciate you so much for caring and reaching out you're awesome,but I've always knew the kind of person that I am and I've always been proud of that, he's tried to take that away but it hasn't worked! I will admit if I wasn't a strong person it probably would have, but I know I'm a caring person, and I know I'm a good person and nobody can take that away unless I let them, and that's not going to happen! Like I've always said, let God decide, I'm not afraid but maybe they should be!! You see I found out how strong I was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to do it all myself, if anything he was mad when I survived it. I survived infusions, radiation one breast removed, lymph nodes removed, shots and all other fun things that goes along with having cancer, just like others with cancer have had to put up with. And I did it without a husband who was to be my support, It was the opposite! But I did it, and I did it by myself! I'm by no means perfect I'm human I have faults but on the issues, but of all the important things that a person should be, I'm proud to be one of the good guys!! So with all that being said thank you so much for reaching out and saying the things you said, I totally agree with you! God Bless

Same! I constantly hear about how everyone "uses and abuses" them, nobody respects them, etc, and then I see that exact behavior from them...Lot of fake smiles at the people they've just gotten done talking badly about, and offering to do things for them/me, only to play martyr with it all later on. Always the victim. Always people wronging them, even though they "do so much" for them...I'm quite sure one of mine is giving me the silent treatment right now in fact, because God forbid I not text/or call them for one day to cater to whatever drama/pity party they created that they want to word vomit on me, eeeeven though they didn't call/text to check on me, knowing I'm also going through things...I am literally sick to my stomach realizing just how correct my gut feelings/red flags were about this person...And they absolutely turn things around on me on the rare occasion I try to point out how they're making me feel. The curse of being an empath is that there are so many people out there who will take advantage of your gentle and understanding nature...

When a covert narc is constantly treating their superficial relationships ( for validation and praise ) better than the romantic relationship a victim may also say things like “you care about others more than me.” Narcs can also breed narc tendencies in their victims. If you’re questioning whether or not you were the narc, chances are you weren’t.
@Travelling..Bottle..Digger
@Travelling..Bottle..Digger 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly... narcs have a tendency to treat the person they're in a relationship with like sh*t and everyone else gets the fake Mr/Mrs Wonderful treatment. It's normal for anyone in that situation to feel like their partner "cares more about others". I think Zung needs to clarify her statement. Being treated like crap and then speaking up for yourself doesn't make you a narcissist.

I guess if u really want to hurt them keep mentioning it and don't let up, find where theor wound is and throw some salt in it like they have all these years. I was tested in disgusting ways. I almost lost touch with reality because of the confusion and continued stress. I am now the enemy , these people are like sad bullies. Just imagine being in a marriage with someone you have to study how to live with, read books, articles online to stay sane..🙆🏽🙆🏽. I had tens if not hundreds of rules- including him not allowing me to go to work,have friends and restrict my family from seeing me . The epiphany to realize is that you are actually the one who holds the power because you’re a natural healer.and they need that. They condition you into succumbing to the belief (and partly reality) that they have the power and control. But after you leave, they pull on your empathy to keep you hoping that you can their inner child. But mine didn’t change and I was stuck in the trauma bond for 2 1/2 years after I left. Until my family found out and gave me an ultimatum, him or my family. So I chose something bigger than me, my family, and since I went no contact, I’ve been healing at a way more exponential pace. 6 months now, no contact. I had to grieve my sorrow for his soul, it was painful, but I have greater purposes and gifts, and now, wisdom, to help other people going through the glue like intensity of the trauma bond as I did

You might qualify to be a "narc magnet" ... some people attract mosquitoes, some narcs ... I'm in second category ... but, now, I know on how to keep them at bay ... you might look for techniques in narc- detection, behavior decoding and analyzing, and, finally narc- control ... it is skill that can be learned and mastered ... it is insane what they do ... I am repeatedly surprised by perfidity and pernaciousness they operate ...narcs can seriously damage, even destroy ona part, or your whole life ... if we let them.
@Dahmer_Jeff

If you are attracting narcs then there is something about YOU that is resonating with them. You are giving off "victim vibes" so there is something about YOU that needs to change and that way once it changes you will repel the narcs. They are feeding off of your low vibrational energy. Raise your vibration, in order to attract better quality people
@TheSahand68
@TheSahand68 4 жыл бұрын
@@Dahmer_Jeff Agree with everything you have said. Yet, here is my input: how someone can rise one's energy and avoid narc-abuse, as you've said, if someone is in financial distress due of a loss of a job, or some other financial problems? Financial vulnerabilities are some of prime vulnerabilities narcs pray on, or are directly trying to cause. I believe that Covid pandemic is making things exponentially worse for victims ...In that sense, there's nothing in YOU that has to change, the culprit is outside the victim's area of impact, the culprit is virus ... the idea that theres something in victim that has to change applies on psychological vulnerabilities, yes, but psychological vulnerabilities are very much interconnected with financial vulnerabilities ...

If you ever feel bad about this, remeber, narcs are attracted to people they see as a supply of something. Yep!!! Been there, done it & could write a book about it!!! I was at my wit's end! All the verbal abuse that she threw at me on a daily basis was her main weapon she used in order to discredit and de'value my worth as a man! She stripped me of all my pride and made me feel worthless! Her whole outlook on life was very negative, she would look at the glass & complain that it was half empty instead of half full, that negativity governed every aspect of her existence! When her three kid's would come to visit on the weekend's she would tell them "I cant wait till Sunday when you go home to your dad's! " I used to feel so bad for them and they were closer to me than they were to her and I loved them like they were my own! Well I was tired of the whole situation and feeling bad all the time, I finally made the decision to save some money and I rented an efficiency apartment in a bad part of town, but I didnt care, it was hard at first being alone but it was liberating at the same time! I had to take time to find myself again & after seven year's I'm doing alot better and dealing with life on it's own term's, but it's ok and I thank God for the little thing's I do have left, it was a hard lesson to learn, my condo is gone and anything of value that I once had but I should've known better, you just have to learn how to put the bad thing's behind you and understand that all of the physical item's are not what defines you, that's the one thing that she couldn't steal away from me, my dignity and piece of mind of knowing who I really am as a person, I was bitter for a long time, but now I have no feeling's at all when I think about her, it's kinda like waking up everyday wondering where all that time went because I think I just went numb in order to cope with all the anxiety and distress that was so very real!

Just to be clear: this isn't just happening in romantic settings. My older brother is an incredibly malignant NPD, and my mother is his covert NPD enabler. He treats her well by fixing things around her house, frequent/constant contact to "check on her" while also gaslighting and manipulating her, insinuating incredibly suspicious and conspiratorial things about her closest friends and family, belittling and mocking her, etc. It's disgusting to watch, especially since she's constantly talking him up like he's the second coming of Christ, while also paying for his home and being obsessed with whether he's "happy" or not. I made the mistake of telling her I hadn't been included on an email she received from him which was related to her assets in a business she shares with her siblings. The only reason I said anything about it was that she was talking to me as though I had received it and was just mistaken about not receiving it. I showed her the email and pointed out that my address was not in the list of recipients. That's it. It made no difference to me, except that she kept telling me that she knew he'd sent it to me. I got nasty emails from him for days calling me a "controlling 'b' ", telling me to "back off" and accusing me of trying to "take control" of everything. This conduct isn't new, but it was the first time it's happened since I learned about NPD. I used what I've learned, went "no contact" with him after responding "I see you're very upset. I won't participate in a disrespectful conversation. When you are feeling better and are able to apologize for your comments below, feel free to contact me." I copied Mom on that response so she would see the whole exchange. I suspected I'd never hear from him again and I haven't. It's been 18 months now, and this weekend he's moving as far away from the town where we all live as it's possible to move without leaving the country. 🤔🤔🤔 I don't know, but I suspect, that he hasn't been able to gaslight Mom completely about this situation, since his insanity is completely revealed and she knows there's no rational excuse for it. (It didn't keep her from trying to get me to ignore my boundaries, act like nothing had happened and join them for dinner, lunch, his birthday, etc. multiple times, though.) He's a sad, crazy, manipulative, controlling, bullying, evil little troll with noplace to hide here, I think,, and he can't tolerate it. I can't wait until he's finally gone and Mom can possibly lose some of the fleas she's picked up from him, although she's also a devoted codependent flying monkey herself.

Thank you so much for these videos revelations. I've been married to my wife for just 8months and life is at the worst in 45yrs. It's been 8months of manipulation, bullying, exaggerations, deliberate misinterpretations of what ever I say, extracting phrases from my statements, turning it around and using it to attack me. Setting up for arguments that inflams to the point where she finds the fuel to sling anything at me

Did anyone else feel like they were the narcissist after it ended? Because I would do things like test my ex all the time because he was so unreliable/hot/cold. So sometimes I hear things like this and think "Oh God, I'm the narcissist!"

YUP! I had the name calling, which I laughed off. I had the belittling and narcissistic rage, so I apologised for making them angry for saying "no" and ended up saying yes. So I was conditioned to say "yes" everytime but in the end I ended up hating myself. I went no contact eventually and they used hoovering, gaslighting while stalking me on my way to work, trying to garner sympathy by giving me sad puppy eyes in public so I averted mine. They contacted me by email to "apologise" in the hope of getting a reply back. Didn't work anymore!

So true!! One huge thing that they do is make the person think they can "Fix" them..The person being abused by the narcissist gets caught in the trap of thinking if only this was different.. I can help them, change them etc.. When it's a trap

Yup! Being tested by narcs greatly...even the words on a birthdaycard seemed to be ment for critising or hurting wich was so confusing at times. Went no contact but got sucked back in and it was destroying everything I build up of selfesteam while having no contact. I'm not sure they realise what they have caused. The hurt is now anger that enables me to say; NO More messing with my soul and mind. It's not easy but I know now who I am and don't need their validation anymore (wich I never got anyway) so what's the point? Finally I realised it was all about control. Setting myself free. Thanks for the video! Lots of greetz, Gracie from Belgium x

Yup!! We are divorced. But he uses my kids to test me. I’m finally understanding this. I’ve gone to zero emotions. I’ll talk about kids. But that’s it. He keeps saying we need to be a unified front. Finally, I said no... we are divorced. We are no longer unified. Then I won’t respond to anything unless it’s about the kids wellbeing

Good job. Using the children shows you (once again) who he is. Give him nothing: no unnecessary information or conversation (but don't be obvious,) no emotion, negative or positive. Nothing. Because anything you give to him will open the door and you'll have to start all over again. They will actually try and keep you on the phone to give them time to hook into you for supply... Telephone calls are a big (psychic) connection.

Seriously tired of putting my attention on narcissistic behavior, HOWEVER, I am very grateful for the information shared by these helpful people. After a lifetime of narcissistic abuse, I consider this a necessary discipline and a life (and Soul) saving measure. I'm on it. And thank you, Rebecca Zung. I left a narcissist and moved into a condo complex that is full of narcissists. Go figure.

Rebecca, you're smarter than me on this. Because I used to take their temporary inadvertent no contact as on this misperceived injury from me instead of a "TEST". 20/20 hindsight says that you're totally right here!

Yup!!!!! 🤦‍♀️Wow - thank God for you and Dr Ramani!!!!! This is exactly what he did. Completely invalidated me then when I explained how ridiculous his argument was, he said he felt disrespected. I’ve dealt with several in various capacities- soul destroying as it’s so difficult to get through to them. It often seems like a severe mental health condition. Destructive. The invalidation is the worst!!!!

Examples of testing: he says to our friend “I have decided to stop yelling - it just doesn’t work”. Now if she says - “Wow I didn’t know you yelled!” That would tell him she didn’t know. (I only told her after he split us up.). If she said “Well, that’s probably a good idea” - he could assume I told her. Very sneaky. He makes up really sly stories and plays around with them to perfect them. And oh - borrows money - needs it - borrows more and pays it back (intermittent reinforcement) and then borrows more and doesn’t pay it back. That’s testing... How much can I get away with. Does it with everything!!!

Stop lending money to him. Say, this is the last time. I'm feeding your financial irresponsiblity/bad behaviour. Why should you pay for his foolishness? Or let him off without paying back in full and tell him you can't afford to lend or give him anymore. I know folk with £20,000 in the bank and say that. That is their financial boundary line. Lol.

I came to realise this year about the narcs. I'd help spread this message to my friends who are suffering in der work engagement for a start. Tq so much.
