After a while, it starts to feel like you are living your life with an annoying fly on the wall trying to buzz loud enough in your ear that your turn to look. Get to that point, freedom is so close when you’re there 😅 all of their gestures, all the words and bull crap.. you start to just cringe at it. It doesn’t hit where they were hoping. This is gold, my friends. They try to break a boundary you set, look them in the face stoically and reply “I was unaware that I was giving the impression that this is negotiable.” .. They tell you “you’re so beautiful today” don’t say something normal like, “aw you’re so sweet, thanks!” Just reply blandly “I know.” And continue on with what you were doing, keep all your responses themed like that, it makes them lose effect when they see you don’t “need” their validation anymore. Works for me anyway lol

23 years with a narcissist. Im now 44 3 daughters 22,21, and 14. He was smart and encouraged me to be a stay at home mom , and i loved the idea until i learned years later was a great way to keep me dependent on him financially. First was physical abuse until my third was born, then that stopped, but then verbal abuse increased his drunken outbursts, breaking things continued. I left for three months, had a restraining order, and then he made promises and did counseling . He loved bombed so hard. Just before September of this year my youngest started high-school and our home mins away her missing home her friends our dogs him knowing this used it on me and we moved back in and wht a mistake it was. I left my sisters home to have my family together, and 2 months in, he started with his ways, keeping me isolated and blaming me and my family for his problems, and now here i am suck again. Havent had a job in so many years have no friends barely talk to my family. My fear is not being able to financially support my daughters, myself, and our fur babies. It's not easy just to walk away. 😢🙏🏼❤️

To get out of a narcissistic marriage/reationship, ideally you really need financial back up, that’s why I saved for many years because I knew the day would come when our marriage would end. After 37 years, it did. I was just so tired of taking the blame for all our arguments, fall outs, being made to feel the “bad one”all the time, being gaslit, physically and verbally abused, getting the silent treatment, never receiving an apology, being ignored, bottom of his list, made to feel so unimportant, invisible….One of the main reasons people stay with the narc is self blame…. Gaslit into believing it’s all your fault and you deserved it.
