At the time of Live Aid I was serving in the British Royal Marine Commandos in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. We listened to it on the radio. We were surrounded by the full horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there even reacted in a very positive way. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commandos who had fought a life and death war against Argentinian's in 82. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is only one of many terrible memories I have from 34 years of active service, and 2 years hospitalisation. But when I remember the smiles on the children's faces, and their laughter at the terrible way we danced always reminds me that humanity will always find it's way through even the worst of times. I only watched it for the first time last year, my son put it on the TV. A lot of memories came back and a lot of tears. My amazing Wife took me to see Queen at Wembley, U.K., in 1986 two weeks after I got back from Ethiopia as a surprise. I saw Queen live 6 times in all, they were incredible live. And yes, I am an old fart.

I think he already knew at the time. I mean, it's in Bohemian Rhapsody. "Too late, my time has come." "Send shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time." "I don't wanna die - " Full body ache is one of the symptoms. The lyrics can be interpreted in many ways, sure. But it could simply mean this.

I loved your reaction. Dancing and lip-syncing through the whole thing and your emotions during Champions is lovely. A true fan. Freddie had nodules on his vocal chords since 1976 and had a throat infection at the time of this concert. His doctor told him he shouldn't perform but that didn't stop Freddie. There was no test for Aids in 1985 that was accurate so Freddie did not know he had it at this time. He was tested in April 1987 and that's when he found out. Queen were all four just killing it that day. I hope you watch Freddie and Brian come on later in the evening to do Is This The World We Created? They were asked to do the song by Bob Geldof. The greatest live performance in rock history! This wasn't even a Queen audience. They didn't join the Live Aid lineup until all of the tickets had been sold...but it didn't matter as Freddie OWNED the stage that day! I was at the USA Live Aid show in Philadelphia that day watching this live feed from London and not believing what I was seeing! Supposedly David Bowie was backstage during this show waiting for his upcoming set. As Queen left the stage, he walked up to his old friend Freddie and said "how the hell am I supposed to follow THAT?" The movie made it appear that Freddie already knew he had AIDS at this point. He didn't (it would be another two years before he was diagnosed), but he DID have a bad case of laryngitis and throat polyps and was told not to sing, but he did anyway! Watching your joyous reaction to this made me realize there's still hope for young people today!

Rebeka.....I have seen SO MANY reactions to this MASTERPIECE. You are amazing.....your reaction is heartfelt....from your obvious love of Queen and especially the IMMORTAL Freddie Mercury. I can tell you, I lived through that era of music....We loved Queen back then, but didn't realize that we were witnessing the BEST of all time. Thank you so much for your genuine LOVE for this amazing man. Great job ❤ Rest in Peace, Freddie........you are missed and loved so much, Legend, THE greatest ever. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Hi Rebeka just bumped into your channel a few minutes ago. Your reaction was sheer and sincere, I don't let my emotions go that easily but this time you made me cry. I've seen tons of reactions to Queen but this was the most genuine heartfelt I've ever watched. Freddie was one of a kind and there will be no one like him on this planet. A huge hug from Italy. Cheers!

I saw Queen live at Wembley, the same stadium that live aid was played. It was part of the Magic tour and had Status Quo as the main backing group. I would have loved for you to have been there. The atmosphere was electric and at the end he came back on stage wearing a replica of the crown jewels, and finished off with the National Anthem. Watching them is incredible, but to be at one of their concerts is an experience that you remember for life.

I've never seen "stage presence" like it before or since. It's difficult to appreciate that this wasn't even a Queen Gig - they only agreed to appear at the last moment, by which time all the tickets had been sold, so the crowd must have been astonished when they learned that they were going to see Queen in addition to all the other great acts. There were no mobile phones in 1985 so how great to see the crowd just living in the moment. Apparently, as they walked off the stage David Bowie was waiting to go on, and he just said "You bastards!". In fairness he did a great set as well - one of the few acts that could follow Queen. I remember watching the whole day on TV - it was epic.

Oh yeah...I feel it too...I react the very same way to this day when I hear the Impeccable style and talent of the Great Freddie , and the worlds greatest band. ! Fell in love with them as a kid in 1975 and because of them played the guitar myself in many bands over the years doing some studio work. I know of no one to this day that can display the style , charisma , sheer talent , and stellar craftsmanship that queen poured into everything they did . Not ONE !

Best front man in history. You can't deny his beautiful self on stage and he was a introvert but comes alive on stage. If you were at this concert you got to witness this magic I guarantee you will never forget one second of it. And Queen wasn't even the headliners. They made this concert their bitch. RIP FREDDIE
