I am glad you made this 3 part series. As you know I have the 300, but eventually I will want a bigger bike and knowing people's thoughts on the 1100 is just what I want. A big Thank You for doing these.

The reality of the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT ***BIG SCOOTER W/FEW GEARS***. For people with Arthritis and disabilities. Right to the point. God bless USA 🇺🇸.

LOL. at 3:25 your DCT and Manual labels are backward. The Manual is on the left and the DCT is on the right. Nice comparison all the same. 🙂👍

What kind of windscreen is that and do you have a video of that?
@mcSal3 жыл бұрын
The windshield is a generic aftermarket from Amazon, "Slip Streamer Hellfire SS-24-C". I have now purchased 4 of them: 2 for Rebel 500's and 2 for Rebel 1100's. Here is the link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X7QSHGS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I did make a video when I put it on a Rebel 500: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKTEZZmFnZ2fe9U

Sal, you mentioned that several friends dropped the 1100 DCT on many occasions? Can you please tell me the circumstances so others can avoid the same mistakes, Thanks!
@mcSal3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It was two different riders. One was backing the bike, accidentally hit the throttle with the DCT in 'Drive', the bike jumped forward, the rider got surprised by it, and the bike fell. The rider instinctively grabbed for the clutch, but there was no clutch and it was too late. The other was enjoying the power of the 1100 DCT, pulled over to wait for another rider, went to pull out, hit the throttle, spun out and dropped the bike. Both were in Standard mode, both were used to Manual transmission bikes, so grabbed for a clutch that wasn't there to disengage the engine. Riders just need to be aware that the throttle is a bit snatchy and with no clutch to mitigate on the DCT; if it's in Drive, it will jump when you hit that throttle. It is not a forgiving bike like the Rebel 500. The DCT requires a different train of thought for best performance. I'm learning to drag on the rear brake in lieu of a clutch, remember to push the Neutral button to disengage the engine, and absolutely use the paddles to downshift for curves & turns. I originally thought the paddles were there in case you want to use them. Now I know they are there because you need to use them to ensure the DCT downshifts quickly enough to the proper gear for safety in curves/turns. If you have never ridden a DCT, it has a learning curve for best success.

Like your bikes! Where did you get your windscreen? I need one for my DCT. Help
@mcSal3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I added a link for the windshield (bought it on Amazon) in the video description. It is a Slipstreamer SS-24-C (Hellfire). Install is quick and easy, and it works great. I have done the quick handlebar only install on 3 bikes (Rebel 500's and the 1100 DCT), and also used the fork mounting brackets on one (1100 Manual after this video). Conclusion: 1100 Manual became unstable at high speeds when the windshield fork brackets were used in conjunction with the handlebar mounts. The 1100 DCT in the video has handlebar mounts only (no fork brackets), and was very, very stable when I pushed it to 98 mph (158 kph). Recommendation: Just use the super quick and easy handlebar mounts and let the bottom part of the windshield move a bit with the wind. That little bit of bottom movement hasn't bothered any of us.

Why keep the dct if you don't like it?
@mcSal2 жыл бұрын
I have no intention of keeping it. I already bought the Rebel 1100 Manual and love it. Want to buy the DCT? Lol

@@feloniousmonk3049 Yes, I still have the DCT, and it has 796 miles on it. It rarely gets ridden. It’s just not popular with my group. I have not put it up for sale yet, but still plan to.

@@mcSal I've ridden the Africa Twin 1100 DCT with 102 HP, so I am familiar with it. Just tough at 63 in age to get a leg over the height of an Africa Twin with 8" plus inches of suspension travel, it's tall. The Rebel is known as a good first bike, though I've owned several other Honda's before, they were all MX'ers or Dual Sports.

There should not be any shift lag. The Rebel pre shifts for the next gear. Just give er more throttle! It clunks because its shifting for 2 gears.
@mcSal2 жыл бұрын
The DCT clunks when shifting more so in Standard riding mode, and only in the lower gears when it's in Sport mode. I have not done a DCT reset yet. That's still on my list. Thanks for commenting.
