"Hack and Slash" is for isometric action RPGs - Diablo, Torchlight, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile and the like. Term originates from tabletop. The ones in the vid are "melee action" (or "Character action" in case of "Battle through time") Diferent genres that have next to nothing in comon, yet somehow people keep mixing them up. After advent of KZbin reviewers, who began to call them H'n'S because "you hit guys with swords so it kindfa fits", even Wikipedia began to confuse the two, as they changed quite a lot of "melee action" games into "hack and slash" after 2010 onward (you can see the page edits), and refuse to roll back, as they for some reason consider youtube more accurate source than earlier paperback magazine publications. This and roguelike/rogue-lite confusion (Different in same sense as TBS and RTS are, except nobody mixes up RTS and TBS, yet they keep mixing up those), really piss me off.

Dang we've gotten 2 decent licensed games in the past couple of months with Spongebob and Samurai Jack. Hope this trend continues.

Licensed games in general have been a lot better lately. With the increased cost to make most video games we're seeing far less cheap cash-in's (a few like the Nick Kart racer still exist but nowhere near as common) and Mobile games seem to be containing most of that market now. The large number of licensed games nowadays are actual games based on licenses instead of the cheap tie-ins they used to have a reputation for. There was a suprisngly good Terminator game recently, the Kill La Kill game was good, MyHero Ones Juctice is fairly good and DB FighterZ is genuinely one of the best fighting games around and a huge love letter to the series. Things are currently looking up for licensed games.

Nick Kart Racers is getting a sequel, but this time it looks like it’s less likely to suck. But I’m hopeful if Battle Through Time is successful, Cartoon Network and/or Adult Swim become convinced to make release more games based on their various franchises. Old and possibly even new.

I got Amulet of Time as a Christmas gift back in like 2003, and the game was too darn hard to play. Finally beat a couple of years ago after getting a new copy to run in my DS Lite, and the ending just made me so angry But the art style is really good for the limitations of the GBA.

I know of one that I'm certain no one will be able to find, nor play. I think it was about a decade ago. DirecTV started something called the Game Lounge. It had a few Cartoon Network games, and one was Samurai Jack. All I remember about it was that it was a Zelda clone. And I mean *_ZELDA 1_* clone. I wish I could find it again, or that these games were dumped somewhere online, but I think they're completely lost media.

There were flash games on samurai jack, several, and there was one on Jack and the Rave... Sadly, it didn't play out to well as the platformer became not only difficult but confusing. If you can dig up the game through a forum of data miners and get a program to convert controller inputs into keyboard inputs like joy to key, I'd recommend it... If you want a Jack game based on that episode that bad.

It's a shame the GBA Samurai Jack game didn't turn out so hot. It *looks* really fantastic, as far as I'm concerned. The artstyle looks more like a retro game you'd see come out in the 2010's.
