There was just one guy surfing, Jason. The other one in his kite was a freestyler that didn't know what he was doing there with his big "C" kite and happy enough each time he left the big wave behind in shaky legs..

dont forget jp is top of his sport and ben is way not but windsurfing is way better in offshore conditions as the kites sit over the back of the wave also ben is back side, so watch this space over the next few years as the sports progress. power to both,push the boundries,to many people cant see past their own agendas????

windsurfers have no option they have to face the wave due to the mast and boom,kiters can choose to ride ffrontside or backside either way just like surfers can .but most surfers will have a forhand backhand prefrence.so ben is a natrual footer also he has no straps attaching him to his board.very hard to do in those condtions.now take a goofey footer on a straped kite board and you would be impressed,also many kiters choose to ride frontside both ways mostly ex windsurfers like me.hsving windsurfed for 25 years in big waves around taranaki and now a kiter i just wish people would respect both options and not get uptight, ps dont know how i ended up using my daughers page????
