25 years of windsurfing, then some kiting, then left the water completely the last 10 years for mountain biking and gravel riding......This is the first time I'm seriously thinking about returning to the blue.....awesome video !

Haha, great to hear and definitely recommend as there's some similarities to windsurfing in terms of handling the wing. It's still a bit of a process to learn if you don't have the foil experience, but I'm sure you'll be addicted like everyone else if you spend the time getting into it! Opens up a whole new world of fun in average waves and bumps

Thanks mate, appreciate the positive comments. Although its still a bit of a learning process, with the sailing and windsurfing background I'm sure you can figure it out. Definitely takes some micro-adjustments but having a wing that flies well off the front handle helps a lot. Having a stiff handle like the one on the Mantis makes a big difference for me
@kshred30433 жыл бұрын
@@KeahideAboitiz1 Yes, but (dumb newbie question) how do you keep it more or less behind you all the time regardless of your heading ? Seems that you must be foiling a lot faster that the true wind so that your apparent wind is always more or less coming from in front of you..... ?
@KeahideAboitiz13 жыл бұрын
@@kshred3043 The main thing that helps is the wind direction as this particular spot is side offshore wind so you are always going slightly into the wind whenever on a wave. In my opinion this is the best direction for wing foiling as it keeps the waves smoother and the wing naturally wants to sit on the best angle. You're also right that I start generating apparent wind especially as the wind can be super up and down here so in the light patches I can ride with it behind me. The Mantis is also a great wing for this as its quite stable on a wave and the stiff front handle also heps a lot with the micro adjustments to keep it flying on the right angle

Fun to see where the sport has gone over the last few years with the advancement of foils and wings. Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here too!
