To be fair, it shouldn’t be understated the large hurdle between taking the foundations of an existing game, recreating, then expanding on it and trying to make an RPG from scratch with its own engine, mechanics built from the ground up, story & world built from the ground up, etc. I hope that isn’t taken as me knocking the Skyblivion team, it’s just never as straightforward as you might hope & were they to take the crew and move forward, it might take a while before something akin to Skyblivion being built from the ground up would even be on the table.

I think they nailed it by sticking to a consistent art style. Some people like old graphics, while others prefer high definition textures, whichever you enjoy the most I think it's vital for a game to "pop" to keep the art consistent among environments, characters, creatures or even the new UI are clear examples of this done right. Whoever is in charge of the art direction or part of the team take a sip of your next coffee with pride.
@Lucifronz6 ай бұрын
Ultimately there will be many mods to supplement this one after it releases, so hopefully if there are any sticking points for people, they can choose a mod that fits their tastes. I'm hoping this mod will not conflict with any body/face mods, because I don't care for the rougher looking NPCs of Skyrim or their rigid stance. They don't quite fit Oblivion and its gentler design. There do appear to be changes, from what I can tell from that brief look at the character creator, and a lot of the NPCs do look better and more fitting than what I've seen in other videos, but I'm sure once it lands there will be mods eventually if not.

You know, there is something to be said for regular updates. It feels good to know you all are working so diligently on this incredible project and that it’s not some mystical secret you’ve worked the past 13 years to keep under wraps. Developers like Bethesda, don’t necessarily owe their customers this sort of transparency but I think it would go a long way if they provided it. Keep doing you what you do! You already have my money and I’m stoked to play this when it’s released.

Gotta say, you all are legends. The amount of work you all have been putting into this passion project, there are no words to describe it properly. And since you asked, possibly having Kvatch rebuilt after the oblivion crisis has ended would be nice. Giving the player something else to do maybe. I know there is a map of Kvatch in the original game. I believe it was in the same room where you find the count's body.

I love the mixing of the Oblivion leveling system with the Skyrim perk system, taking the best part of both those systems and combining them. It also keeps the roleplaying fresh and I don't have to worry about the "Efficient Leveling" and whatnot in Oblivion.

I have to say, one of the most exciting aspects of this is the editable perk system. Not just because I care about other modders being able to add perks specifically, but it shows that with every change the Skyblivion team makes they are keeping this as open as they can for other modders to tweak and tinker. They are actively developing in a way that makes it easy for others to develop for. That hypes me more than the rest of this (very impressive) dev diary combined.
