Just finished installing on my unit as per your instructions and it's all working perfectly. Thank you so much!

Asadinho RvS Great to hear if you have problems with SCSI setup change the scsi ids, look in description, of this video, and try that setup,

Yep, I went for the 5, 4, 3, 2 configuration and it worked fine. What I am a bit confused about is that the SCSI2ID app set 4 partitions of 2GB, but the sampler has set-up a single partition of 60MB. Any idea what I've done wrong?
@Music-Gear6 жыл бұрын
OK, try this, go to the sampler and select scsi id 2, load it, then select format, format the whole drive into 9 partitions at 60mbs per partition, if you look in the description of the video there is a link to my blog with a step to step guide on how to do this, let me know how you get on

This series is a godsend. There's just no way I would have managed without it. Thank you 1000x for putting it together. I have a question... is there a simple way to put samples from an AKAI format sample CD (or image) onto the card?
@BatHalliday5 жыл бұрын
Or load a floppy disk image onto it

Check out Pt 3, it shows how to transfer your own samples, its pretty much the same with Akai format/image using chicken system translator. As well what scsi2sd board do you have v5 or v6? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmHZYpZogc-ng68 Also check out my blog for more info, akais3000xl.blogspot.com,

Has anyone get it working on a Akai S3000 (classic?)
@Music-Gear5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I haven't see it listed as compatible on the website, it would be a gamble if you bought the board, but you could build a external SCSI2SD Reader, this might work. Here is a video which will give a clearer understanding. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJPJmXhndrGof9k

Why setting 4 devices of 2GB and using only 540MB on each ?
@Music-Gear6 жыл бұрын
I am sure you know that the max size HD you can use is 512mb on an Akai sampler, if you like you can partition each device with 512mb using the software, I used 2gbs because it was the default setting on the software. which i am sure is the safest option,

I've just installed a SCSI2SD V6 board inside my Akai S1000HD in place of the original SCSI hard drive. I have inserted a 32MB SD card in the board. I've updated the SCSI2SD firmware to the latest version and set the 1st device settings as follows: SCSI ID: 5, Device Size: 32MB, "Auto" box checked. All other devices are inactive. When I try to format the SD card in the Akai it displays "Hard Disk Drive Not Ready". I have tried selecting "FORM" and "ARR" and neither format the SD card. I am unsure if this is because the Akai just doesn't see the card, or if there is an issue with the settings. Does anyone have ideas or advice as to what I'm doing wrong?

Chris King Maybe try using a different sd card brand to see if that helps,

Musik Thanks for the suggestion. I bought a new SD card today and it appears to be able to be formatted by my Akai.

@@s11874 Great, The Musik comment is me as well, I have two YT accounts, I had read somewhere of sd cards brands causing problems, this maybe of some help vintagemusicsamples.wordpress.com/2016/03/31/akai-sample-cds-percussion/

Thanks Paul! Yeah the new card is working fine. I was just worried because on the SCSI2SD wiki page, the s1000 is not listed as a compatible model sampler. Thanks for your video, and I’ll be sure to check out that link.

Anyone installed this in an S2800 and get it working? Tried everything with IDs and it hangs on "Waiting For Hard Disk, Ready" - read about blown fuse but my External SCSI Zip100 drive still works so not sur.... Any ideas folks? Thanks!

I don't know if it will work on that sampler , this is the list of devices it works on , I don't think that sampler is listed, but that's not to say that it won't work , what board version do you have? www.codesrc.com/mediawiki/index.php/SCSI2SD_V5_Compatibility

Also check inside the sampler to see what EPROM version is installed in the sampler, upgrading this does help the handling of scsi drives and sample transfers, you should find articles online based on your sampler about EPROMs

Thanks for the replies! Yes wasn't sure but heard a few people have successfully used it with an s2800 so thought I'd give it a go - it's the red v5 - basically bought the bits listed on your part1.... could be my scsi card in the sampler not sure (the 2800 had to have an additional expansion card but the 3000xl didn't I think?)
@Music-Gear6 жыл бұрын
If all else fails maybe think of making your own external scsi drive enclosure, with your scsi2sd board. Once made connect it to the the back of the sampler scsi connector , I think I seen someone online with one, this may work,

Thanks! So tried reversing the ribbon cable (cutting off notch) and it works (must be the same as the S3200 situation) BUT it seems no power over SCSI so have to have the usb connected to power it. Will look into some sort of internal power...

Ok, if you decide to buy the SCSI2SD, there is two different boards Ver 5 and Ver 6, I believe version 6 is easier as you don't need a computer with an scsi card, just drop the sample cds onto the sd card that's inside the SCSI2SD board using an usb cable.
@Music-Gear4 жыл бұрын
This is video from Roy Maya, using an program Win32 Disk Imager which lets you put Iso Sample Cds onto the card, using SCSI2SD Ver 6 board, which you can see in the video it lets you see 3 different virtual drives, you can't do this with ver5,

Hi just received today my SCSI2SD. Unfortunately i have "hard disk drive not ready" message. I cant format in akai, becuase i get the same message. I dont have connected external scsi gear, but dont think it can be a problem. Or i have to terminate something maybe? What settings i have to do in AKAI. SCSI id 5 - the same as Device 1? (following your video)
@Keyaar19786 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: I set the ID-s as 5-4-3-2. And realized that Akai can format and see my SD card only when USB is connected to PC. Is it normal? I supposed you dont need USB connected to PC when normal use.
@Music-Gear6 жыл бұрын
Yes when I switch on my Akai sampler, it says drive not ready disk removed, that's because I have removed the floppy drive, that's because it looks for the floppy drive first, then the scsci, don't worry it works perfect, it's just the boot sequence,
@Music-Gear6 жыл бұрын
You should be able to see all devices, without the usb cable connected, Just select the load button, then select scsi (F5) turn day wheel to scsi ID 4 and push the load button,
@Music-Gear6 жыл бұрын
Also, You can only load one drive at a time, to work with, what I have done is loaded sample cds on devices 2,3,and 4 but left 5 empty when I liked a samples I would save my favourites to device 5 because it the first one akai loads when switched on
@Keyaar19786 жыл бұрын
Thank for your info. Actually dont know why but my SD works only when USB is connected. Maybe my S3200 works when powered separately with molex or usb. My SCSI device 1 ID5 and device 2 ID4 is working, but dont know why two rest not formattable...hopefully i will figure out. :) Anyway im very happy using 2 drives also. Huge thanks for your videos.
