I know what you are saying. I thought they were freakish. My daughter has multiple physical disabilities and learning disabilities, she is profoundly deaf without speech. She loves little babies, is sooo gentle and loving. She will never have a relationship, marry or have children. We have gotten her a reborn for Christmas as a therapy aid. My son was/is a tad horrified. My view, why shouldn’t she have that closeness, comfort and love for herself from carrying and cuddling the nearest thing to a baby? ❤

@joanahope3013 Who's to say they're not? Should children who cry not be comforted as they do so? A reborn doll is no different than other forms of comfort. It's a specialized form of comfort, actually. Ot will help a grieving parent reach closure without feeling isolated the whole time. Complex grief takes time a long time to process. Who are you to decide that this isn't a worthwhile coping mechanism? Your stance is arrogant.

I sold a reborn to a teen who coincidentally had its twin. She was so thrilled and her mum drove her to get it. I bought it second hand. I loved the idea that she was getting her satisfaction of mothering through reborns withought becoming a real teen mother.

My daughter has custom reborn and silicone dolls. She has always loved dolls as a child but her dad passed away at our home when she was 9yrs old and she was there when it happened it traumatized to her and after that she took to dolls even more for comfort and it was better than counseling. She is 30yrs old now and doing great and she loves her nursery.

Oh no, that is traumatizing... But it's good to know that her dolls help with her pain. I have had life experiences as well that have turned me toward dolls as well. I am also a woman in my thirties who collects Reborns! :) I occasionally post them on here too, if you wanna look and maybe show your daughter!

This is actually very helpful, especially for mothers who either lost their babies or can't have them. In a sense it could ease their trauma, I'd imagine. Edit: Yup the video explains this, yet people's first opinion is gonna be this is either creepy/wrong/strange.

My grandma got dementia and one of the things that brought her comfort was caring for a baby doll. So my aunt got her a reborn, and she loved it, cared for it like it was a real baby until her illness progressed to the point that she was completely gone. But even then she liked to hold it. It was with her along with the picture of my grandpa (who had gone on before her) when she passed. Im glad something brought her comfort at the end.

they do sometimes, but most productions don’t care that much. some real artist directors or sfx guys do commission reborns for productions when they want it to look just right. there’s some clips on youtube and other side of reborns on movie sets and behind the scenes.

I got one after I lost one of my sons who was born a little early but very unknowingly critically ill (he was my 5th) . It was hard going home empty handed. I found these dolls and bought one. I loved it. I was a huge doll lover all my life :) I bought another reborn because they’re just so amazing and I am waiting on my first high end silicone to finish being painted as we speak! My youngest is 5 and I miss dressing and cuddling a baby and these make it so fun, comforting, and enjoyable ♥️ just so you know…those silicones are the best! A partial silicone is so realistic feeling, they feel exactly like a real baby in your arms 😊

When they can make a perfect nursery..dedicate a whole room of their house to a piece of plastic...especially when so any babies and mothers in the world do not have beautiful clothes or decked out nurseries? Why not just gift this baby stuff to a neighbor, aquaintence, stranger or someone who would love and appreciate such a nursery for their baby in real life..but who cannot afford it?

Yeah people do get weird about it and Im sorry people feel like they need to judge! It’s completely wrong and unfair! I look at it this way- Guys play with their cars and collect comics and baseball cards and other things that nobody bats an eye about yet we women are told to put away our dolls and other “toys” and told to grow up. We should be afforded the freedom to enjoy our dolls and toys the same way men do and not be told to grow up or act our age! I take my reborns everywhere with me to normalize it as much as possible for those around me for this reason exactly! I bought my friend who is in her 70s a Poor Pitiful Pearl doll. She had one as a child. I love going to her house and seeing the new items she has purchased or made for her doll. She is forever styling Pearl’s hair and changing her clothes! It’s the coolest thing to get a glimpse of what she was like as a child. Let’s flood the world with our love of dolls or whatever we loved as children! If it brings us joy we should do it without shame! I hope things change for you and you can enjoy your reborn openly! You are not hurting anyone and it’s nobody’s business why you have them or why you enjoy having them! Love it to your heart’s content! 🥰

Are the chemicals okay for your son to breath in ? If he's sleeping near the products/ chemicals/ paints to make the dolls? Also latex can cause breathing problems and anaphylaxis shock. After a while if your son develops an allergy from the dolls ,just curious. And btw they are beautiful dolls. My daughter took me to a ladies house that was selling dolls when my kids were still in elementary school and we bought one of the first lifelike doll from Italy for my daughter's for only 10 bucks at the time .this was a long time ago. And my oldest also had a lifelike newborn when she was born called Hamish.she got from her dads maid. When she was 2. So they are interesting dolls. But I love your dolls I wish I could afford one for me . Haha.

is there any kind of savety insurance etc. if that precious and expensive reborn baby gets stolen by porch pirates? Ive seen a lot of this worse thing happen.....and imagine you pay thousands of dollars for baby and it gets stolen right at your porch. I love babies, I can’t see the therapeutic benefits from a reborn baby doll. But fortunately I have grandchildren and a new baby girl, she’s almost 5 months old and she is so sweet, her big sister is so attentive to her baby sister, she just turned 7, my 4 year old grandson is acclimatizing to being a middle child, funny because his dad, my middle son, created a middle son, my son will make sure that little man is not ignored. If I hadn’t been able to have kids (my doctors told me it would be impossible for me to conceive or carry a baby, but God is most gracious, I would have loved a reborn baby doll, to cuddle and pretend with. I love babies and children.
