I assumed you were going to add a neck similar to Hazel's, but removing it to transplant on to your brother's guitar was an emotional moment. You're awesome.

Real luthiers might be cringing watching this but I really admire your courage in taking these projects on with either minimum or no experience. We can all learn a lesson from that. I also appreciate you wanting to give your brother one of his guitars back. It would be terribly sad to me if I lost my guitars in a fire. I feel that your editing skills are better than most. We see some detail but it’s never boring. You can never know everything about guitars but all of your experiences are teaching you a lot I’m sure. Thank you so much for taking us on this journey with you. You are an amazing young lady!!!!

One of the best days in my life was when I bought a genuine Fender Telecaster. It’s only a MIM but it’s a Fender, and I never, ever thought I’d own a Tele. I’ve changed my pickups over to EMG actives, and that is my guitar. I have a lot of other guitars, and I’ve built a lot of guitars, but my Tele is really special to me. If I could only keep 3 guitars it would be my Tele, my DG335 in pelham blue, and my first guitar I built, my Tele in zebrawood dyed purple, with all gold hardware.

it's awesome (and kind of a miracle) that you were able to salvage the Evangelion sticker! it's not technically part of the guitar but seems like such an important personal touch to preserve.

I love that you used Jason Lollar's Special T's! I love those pups and have them in a few Tele's that I've a few years ago. I hav even used his Imperial's and El Rayo's in a few hum bucking guitars. They're great sounding pup's as well as Lindy Fralin's Steel Poles 43's (P90's) in a Tele, with a 4 way switch. Plus, I really dig what you do!! Job well done on your Brother's guitar!

i've seen a lot of guitar re-building processes, but this one is different. sounds a bit cheesy but caught myself crying in the 6:44 solo cause sounds like the guitar's screaming, as if it's still burning the flames that caught it, specially seeing how your brother wanted it back. pretty sure your dad is proud of you 2.

Honestly, I love the way this guitar looks now. There's a Japanese technique called shou sugi ban where they preserve wood by charring it. Ben Crow from Crimson Guitars has played a lot with this technique, and the result on your brother's guitar is such a cool burst, which I will henceforth refer to as Ash Burst. Wait. Ash is also a type of wood...... We'll workshop the name, but you did a fantastic job.

The tele is the workhorse of guitars- such a great guitar. That being said, I think throwing a few surprises in like the switch etc. Is the way to go. Give him the newest version of that old guitar. He has a story how it ended up with you and now you have a story of giving it back- Awesome video!

It's truly a work of art, a beautiful rebirth with that personal investment that takes it over the top. I so thought a roasted maple neck was the appropriate character for the recovery; the fact that it was already played-on is a tone bonus. The pickup choice was great, I like the warmth and bite. Even the orange drop tone cap would be my go-to choice. I hope your brother appreciates that he is getting a guitar back with another dynamic dimension that he can discover and play into; it might not be what was, but can be a better where-it's-going. He should learn the story of Willie Nelson's Trigger. This can become his Trigger.

The whole lay-your-tools-off-beforehand thing is peak Asian. I love it so much. I kinda want that for myself but having worked on cars for decades, improvisation of the correct tool for the next procedure is my method. It's impractical to lay out in advance all the tools required to pull an engine.

"I can't unmelt or remagnetise this pickup". I don't know if either of you still have the pickups, but... I'd actually love to see you try. Building pickups isn't actually all that hard - remagnetising takes a couple of permanent magnets or coils to pass your bobbin between and at least from here, the cover looked salvageable, a mechanical winder from China is under $100, sometimes under $50... and you might well find that (assuming the pole pieces didn't just turn to dust, which would end this project pretty quickly, but that's unlikely) the "heat treated" magnets might give an interesting vintage sound once remagnetised. Flatwork, wire and wax are all trivial to get.
