Ray Bucks Auto Panels has the best panels for almost vehicles for dodge ram Ford's and Chevrolet trucks
@onehappyfarmer346128 күн бұрын
Surely the aftermarket parts are just as good. Original side panels on my 09 Dodge started rusting through at 5 years old and 40000 miles. Now it’s 16 years old and I can just about stick my head through the sides.
@Johnnymidnight28 күн бұрын
Yes, unfortunately these trucks were terrible for rust, keeps me busy though 😉

I hate doing the 2000 models where the damn fender is welded to the inner fender well. Nice job.

Here in south east Texas trucks reign supreme. That repair would have been done be finding another bed box at a salvage yard
@Johnnymidnight2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not living in a dry climate clean used parts are a rarity, and shipping something like a truck bed from the south costs a bundle

I have the exact same cherry picker and take beds off the exact way. Right on
@Johnnymidnight4 күн бұрын
Nice! I’ve always joked that one day it will end badly, but I have removed dozens this way. One day I’d like to add an air cylinder in place of the pump jack
@Charlie-dv7ev4 күн бұрын
@@Johnnymidnight I've lifted dozens upon dozens as well. Even ones with toolboxes. I just throw a ratchet strap over the front to control the level. I want to do something similar to my picker but instead use a foot controlled hydraulic pump with a deep cycle battery. The battery and pump will double as a nice counter weight too for those times I have to extend the boom but keep the legs a little short.

What do you set your Millermatic at for wire speed and amps with these body panels?
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
Usually around 5 1/2 - 6 range
@timcouch2037 Жыл бұрын
How many hours does it take per side?
@Johnnymidnight Жыл бұрын
I would typically charge 11 hours a side to replace bedside and wheelhouse, and 4 hours a side paint.
@DouglasCarman Жыл бұрын
Did you paint the inside of the new pickup sides, if so with what?
@Johnnymidnight Жыл бұрын
I don’t paint the inside typically, but certainly can’t hurt to coat them. Even just cheap industrial paint like tremclad or rustoleum would work well.
@Stan-p5y6 ай бұрын
Don't you apply anything to the inside of the panel to try prevent the rust from happening again

Yes, I always heavily oil all of the inners before returning to the customer

Love the work but wouldn’t it be cheaper for the customer to just replace the bed with a southern box?

I don’t know, by the time you get it here to BC, after exchange, shipping, duty, etc.
