I think you may have killed the starter because you hydrolocked the engine with gasoline. That carb only has one fuel inlet, and you plumbed a 2nd fuel line into the PCV fitting. If you need help, PM me. I've got a pretty good track record with marine engines, and I'm just up the street on Lake Travis.

Leaving us with a cliffhanger I see 🤣 and man I'm thankful I have EFI on my Moomba, however I will say with the same engine it's been really solid for us.
@don92702 жыл бұрын
Why do people hate carburetors so much? They are bulletproof, inexpensive compared to EFI, easier to troubleshoot, and work great when properly set up- which also isn't that hard to do. Not to mention easier to fix after being submerged.

One glance at how you had the fuel line to the carb also "Tee"'d into the carb's vacuum port told me instantly that you were completely clueless..You must have pumped the oil pan full of gas with that stunt, very lucky it didn't blow the pan clean off.

Not even a marine approved carb and the fuel lines lol only takes one no need hook one up where the vacuum booster would go like if it was on a car. You probably just broke the engine.

@don92702 жыл бұрын
@@RebuilderGuy You were also holding the choke closed to keep the RPM down which only succeeded in pulling even more fuel into the engine. Carbs really aren't difficult to work on if you actually read the manual that comes with them... I have that same Edelbrock carb on my 1959 Chris Craft with a 5.0l engine and it works perfectly. Starts instantly, runs smooth, accelerates without the slightest hesitation- and dirt simple to work on. You can fix just about anything on a carburetted engine with a screw driver, an adjustable wrench, and/or a hammer 😊

You never addressed the floors and stringers in the boat. If it´s been flooded for an extensive period, they will have water ingress and rotten by now. It´s really the most important thing to replace. Everything else except the engine, is just cosmetics

After a saltwater bath, the entire electrical system needs to be replaced. But what do I know? I was just a master electrician in a past life. The salt water literally wicked into the wires themselves. You will never get rid of the corrosion man. Take the advice for what is worth.
