It´s a good idea to not mix left and right output shafts. They have always been loaded in one direction. Changinga sides alters the load direction making them prone to crack and split in two. Especyally if you have some engine power.

I installed three clutch packs and it hooks up nice! I used my jigsaw also to remove bushing. Keep up the great progress on your E30.

James Kissinger awesome! I actually have to revisit the clutch packs as my sticky tires and race suspension have already worn the stock clutches out. Well that an who know how many miles were on this diff. Definitely going to do the 3 clutch pack. Do your tire chirp a bit in parking lots or tight turns? Cuz that’s kinda what I’m looking for.

I do get a little tire chirp in parking lots making sharp turns. Ill have to check torque on clutch packs to compare against stock 25%. I stumbled upon your channel, subscribed and have been inspired to continue tunning. I haven't been autocrossing in a few years and can hardly wait for next year. Our tracks in Redding are narrow with tighter turns and not as fast as you tracks.

@@BlakesGarage I know this is old, but I actually do 4 clutch on 188mm in my E34. Also, the "metal shim" at 16:08 is how you set engagement - they're available in different thicknesses and it will set the ring gear in or out of the pinion gear accordingly.

I have an LSD with a 3.25 and an open 4.10. Can the LSD be transplanted into the 4.10 diff?

Hi im having a problem...i have diff unit at home and it is an lsd diff but i dont know from what car i tried fitting it in e36 housing and it fits but speedometer "feathers" on the upper side of the unit are getting stuck to the inside of the housing. Help. nubmers on the unit are 4061006234 840384 S25 and the ring is H23 3 0044 0755 what are key differences between units of 168 188 210? this one is compared to regular e36 188 the same but its getting stuck when everythings in place...im stunned. If you can help and you know what am l missing here please. Thankyou very much!

How are you specing the torque values for everything? Did you just measure before hand and reinstall? And did you add any shims or take out any?

+teh vee teh vee I measured the backlash and runout with a dial indicator before removing everything and then checked again after torquing down everything. No shims every thing was good. I didn't replace any bearings just seals.

Hey Blake watch your videos all the time. I have a f80 manual that I bought new. I am getting a rear differential message saying my rear differential may not be operating properly. We keep clearing the code but it keeps giving this message on the screen

I have a 1990 325is with a 3.73 diff. when the car is jacked up I have some rotational play within the output shafts. what could be the cause of that? Would that be a reason for needing a rebuild?

+Adrian L you will have a bit of slop between the axels and the driveshaft not sure if that's what your talking about.

I am have an 1/8th turn of play between the flanges from the differential and the cv axles. if that is able to clear it up. if you have an email I might be able to send you a video of what I'm talking about.

Open difs stub axles will spin in opposite directions when you turn the shaft, LSD will spin in the same direction...to verify LSD

Jay McArdle yep. But you can't verify its a good LSD without using the method I showed. Also someone could try to trick you with a welded diff.

that is not the original bushing, this is the full rubber Z3M bushing. it is way better as the normal bushing. i would stay with this bushing!!! urethan bushings CAN melt sorry for my Bad english greetings from Germany
