No one can ever accuse you young lads of just painting a turd and calling it a day. You guys are a phenomenal job. BTW, Daycab Company is really putting themselves out there, they reached out to EZRIDER and Twinsticks garage about providing the interior for their 359s. I shouted you guys on in both channels comments regarding your restoration.

Also agree on removing those support bars for the radiator, move them to the frame. Cracked up a bit of the firewall from all that tension and rattling. Plus its more cleaner

@@allz3garage627 Pete designed all that before air ride cabs and unibilts came along? My 93 has the rods attached to the top of the motor( B Model Cat) It just dawned on my as to why the cabmates i put on years ago didnt perform all that well? The exhaust rubbers (frame to elbow ) didnt have enough flex coupled with the radiator supports limited the travel, So you ended up with broken fire walls, poor performance on cabmates ect.We air cab,d this one and put on uni bilt cab rubbers an have plenty of travel, Thanx

As many as I ever drove or had my share of shop time in, heaters, air conditioning, and wiring. A big anemones to fix and most of it always got passed down to the low guy on the totem pole. Wiring is not some get out the heat shrink and fix good as new but I did get fair at it. It took me a long time to realize how much better it was to work with what you have as its not a short little fix here and there. The wiring is chaffed and needs the protection of being sealed and some is corroded inside of its coating, it has to come out. I bought a new loom to put in a truck I was fixing, after making the mistake of taking it all out and not leaving good notes to refresh the memory, I found another cab that needed repairs and did it instead. Over I have heard two miles of wire end to end and that just can't be right. Some people have the knack for wiring.... cheap for the cost. The easiest was the wiring with the no., on metal tags that crimped on.... had a no., on both ends and if it was a blank or spare, you had to know if it was run only firewall to dash or if it ran further. When I finally accrued a book on that wiring only (big bucks) for that rig in front of me then life was good. A period of five years went by so easy cause you keep the day job, work nights and weekends when they came around and then bargained with the wife on where all the time goes. One day when in the full blown swelled neck stage, I told her if she could just work one night a week with me and we do it together maybe we could have some time together. I had to also let her drive once in a while or no deal. It worked out very well and she dang it was good at wiring.... go figure.

Got a question? got a 1993 379 Exhd im redoing, the corrosion in the area of that panel you are replacing( on my truck ) is minimal, big holed it so i could put the ext cab panel from Day Cab Company in, shaved the top of the cab, and list just goes on as you know. Question, I have my own HUCK gun and ive done a fair amount of cab skin replacements but THIS particular panel looks tight to get the gun in there to pull a collar/pin type huck? Did you use BLINDS on any of these rivets? And do you use Blinds often? I only use them if cramped for space or on fiberglass because of fear of splintering the FG? Thanx Jim from SW Ohio
@allz3garage627
@allz3garage627 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim thanks for the comment! The tight spaces are quite tricky, a lot of bloody knuckles goes into getting those pesky rivets. We pulled off every panel possible and and it’s very tight but doable. It’s also extremely important to be aware of the pressure to the gun, too much pressure and you will dimple the surface, not enough pressure and you will jam the gun.
@jimblevins4085
@jimblevins4085 2 жыл бұрын
@@allz3garage627 Thanx Gentleman, i hear ya on the bloody knuckles! My gun does a really nice job NOT wrinkling or distorting the panels, I regulate the air to 100psi. Look fwd to seeing more updates, God Bless You All. Again Thanx

Thanks brother! We are the ones shelling out the money.What It really comes down to is time management, and is it smarter to spend the time repairing it or just replacing it. Fortunately, we work with some great vendors that supply aftermarket parts for 50-60% off the cost from Peterbilt! That has helped keep our budget inline.
