I have a new Lares control valve, it's leaking between the steel plate on the cap end. I took the cap off and watched closely, the small control valve the plate secures is leaking from around that. I made sure it wasnt the spool valve seals. Should there be a paper gasket on that retainer plate like on the other end ? It works great except for that stinking leak.. ??

Thank you so much for this very informative video,i have two questions please. i am planning to rebuild a control valve of 59 Mercury, however i am not sure what the correct kit to order as there is only (Bendix) stamped and i didn't find any other code or something and, sure if the previous owners had replaced or it's the original part? it looks very similar to this one on the video. How easy is it to turn the steering wheel on a stationary old car not moving? Because in my case it's very difficult to turn the steering when the car is parked, however once it starts moving it gets really easy to steer you can steer with a pinky finger.

So I'm having trouble getting the seals on the spool valve and into the housing. I can get the seals in either the housing or around the spool, but not both. Because of this I decided to search the internet to see if there's any secrets on how to do this. I see you don't show this part. Is it because it's a super pain in the butt? Does it work best to push the plastic portion of the seal in after or leave it in the rubber part while installing?

Great job of showing how to rebuilding this control valve, BUT why does no one ever show how to replace the soft seats in the control valve where the 4 hoses connect to it???

I'm rebuilding the valve on a 1956 T bird. The kit I got is for a 1965 mustang. I looks to be identical to the parts for the T bird. No one can tell me if the valve for the T bird and the Mustang are the same. Also the new kit had all the same parts as yours except for the brass ball sleeve. How can I tell if mine is ok to reuse or is too worn?

It does matter which way the spool goes on. Groove needs to.be spring side, luckily you put it in that way.

What rebuild kit do you recommend?

Local parts stores have good rebuild kits. Seal kit, etc...check your local Autozone

I have a 65 Ford Fairlane that I’m rebuilding mine. Does anyone know if the mustang one will work? If my fairlane control valve is bad? Because I’ll just buy a new one for a 65 mustang however websites say it doesn’t fit.

i have a 65 fairlane too. How did it go??
@trevorwilliams37762 жыл бұрын
@@jamiepirie9758 super easy.. only thing is when I bought the car that part was taken apart in a zip bag. So I had to go find a few parts but got it all fixed up. Fun but not fun lol had to do some serious lending because it had rusted inside and some parts wouldn’t move freely.

Could you repost this with a conventional perspective? The triple screen is difficult to watch.
@KTLRestorationsInc6 жыл бұрын
cobrajetter this video was taken last year and unfortunately, I won’t be able to change this one, but I will be able to do a conventional perspective with new tutorials. It is showing the full screen. If you could see it on a bigger monitor it will show better detail. Email me with any questions you may have. Be happy to help.

Great post but you didn't show the bushings on the spool valve that's what I really need to see. Haven't seen a viedo on that part and all the illustrations are crap.
