Quite a few of the early R8 models suffered from a frame cracking issue. Sam Crac had the issue on an R8 he repaired. Audi do sell the parts for the repair. Definitely worth checking for as it's a major safety issue.

For the people asking for P1 update that never touched a wrench, understand that working on a car like that even if you’re specialist with deep pockets takes a long time, from ordering parts to research and every other bits, hats off to tavarish and the team for not going the simple route and even taking it a step further on that project. Also I enjoyed this episode and R8 is simply a modern timeless classic.

Lol, but he is going the simple route with the P1...remember he's removing all electronic drive. He's masquerading it as "increasing power", but in reality can't be bothered with the complicated electronics. The P1's electric motor makes up for reduced torque during gear shifts etc, it's unlikely the new "1600bhp" engine would actually beat it around a track.

@@xeon4888 oh yes, the half second that it might get beat on the track. Tavarish is not a race car driver neither are you or me, he cares about driving, enjoying, rebuilding that car and that’s what’s possible for him to do. I don’t agree with you saying “masquerading” but if so, it is his car and he can do what he wants to it.

@mikebridges20 9 ай бұрын
@@xeon4888 Losing 400 lbs. is HUGE on a track. And since the P1 isn't AWD, like most high performance hybrids, you don't get the launch out of a corner, either. Equal drivers, I'm guessing either Freddy's P1 Evo beats it or they're about even.

You may need to widen the rear frame to accommodate the s-tronic dual clutch gearbox. The r-tronic is narrower between the rear frame rails. If you measure the frame between the two cars you will see if one is wider. Interested in seeing what you are going to do to. I have always wanted to do this myself but in Australia we don't get alot of crashed super cars. Keep up the good work.

The P1 is nothing like the other builds guys. You can't rebuild a P1 overnight. You can find Audi and BMW and Volkswagon parts for everything else, you can't just find replacement parts for a P1. Especially one being converted to a one off unique car. You have to engineer and produce that shit, that takes time and money. A lot of both.

4:00 - Another reason you don't pull or use a frame machine on an aluminium frame/chassis is because of the sheer stress points. Aluminium will break over time, steel will not. It's the reason why con rods are made from steel, not aluminium (unless race car). Titanium has the same issue as aluminium and carbon fibre is even worse for it.

In my +30 years of experience with cars here in the EU, most if not all cars here use lug bolts, not lug nuts. It's probably because there's just more thread and gives wheels a cleaner look. Also, not surprised the wiring harness cut you up, it's made by Leoni - a German wiring giant that has loads of factories across Europe. I actually worked at Leoni in Romania for 2 years and their manufacturing standards were pretty crap.

Bravo for making sure everything is right on the R8. The a/c compressor is prone to failure and should probably be upgraded/replaced since motor out.

I have loved the Audi R8 since the concept was revealed. If I had the time, money and resources Tavarish has, I would definitely have done the gated manual conversion. I'd love to feel that V10 engine as it puts it's power on the road.

Interesting comment about wheel bolts, every car I’ve had the past 20+years in U.K. and Europe has had bolts to secure the wheels, Mercedes, BMW, Peugeot, Renault etc, I don’t know why they went to bolts, cost probably.

10:38 For stuck nuts or bolts in sockets, either slightly put it back on the stud or in the threaded hole SLOWLY and wiggle the gun off, or an easier solution. You can take the socket off, put it on the ground and tap it with a hammer. The vibrations will knock the stuck nut or bolt out pretty quick 👍 👍
