I have a 1948 TD-14 engine in a grader. When I start just after the engine starts to fire I get the choke to about one quarter setting and it will speed right up. These carbs can put a lot of gas into the engine causing an over rich mixture. The looks of the exhaust show to rich on the choke also the white in the exhaust could be the diesel side not shut completely off. Great machine Love the video.

I’m thinking the same thing but I can’t get it to do much without the choke. I’ve got 2 videos in the works on this machine and 1 deals with the starting issue. Thanks for watching

@@PleasantValleyOutdoors Thanks for the reply. I start with full choke and as it starts to cough and pop I back the choke off to about 1/4 and away it goes. Looking forward to your next videos.

I wish I had a way to post a picture I just got my grandfather international td-6 it's a 1953. I have to rebuild the carb and get it running. Been sitting for about 3 years.

Mine belonged to my grandfather. It sat for about 15 years. My dad and I got it going almost 40 years ago. Been having fun with it ever since. Good luck and thanks for watching

Hi, Pleasant Valley Outdoors. Thanks for the video, much appreciated. I have only ever operated one IH gas-to-diesel tractor, a TD9 with Bucyrus-Erie hydraulic dozer - and I LIKED it - which might sound strange coming for a man who has run cats almost all his life. BUTTTT, it burned diesel fuel, made noise and smoke and moved dirt. What more do you need? The blade lift arrangement on your TD6 intrigues me - seems like it would be pushing against itself until you look deeper into it. What brand of dozer blade is it? Just my 0.02. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

You’re right about to blade. It looks as if it works backwards. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen as all the others are Bucyrus Erie. It’s called a Bros Dozer built by a boiler manufacturer out of Minnesota. I have the original paperwork and manuals on it. Have a great day and thanks for watching

Nice rebuild on the TD -6. I have a TD-6 61-series. Pulled the motor and replaced clutch and seal on the front of the transmission. I’ve been looking for a rear main seal for this tractor and not having any luck. The rear seal is the rubber type not the felt If anybody has an answer of where to find that sea, that would be awesome. Thanks.

I’ve replaced the felt rear mains seals twice and I figured out how to pull the clutch and flywheel out the top without pulling engine. The felt seal is available aftermarket now. The rubber seal is a newer model so it should be available but I don’t have info on who makes it. Thanks for watching

Where do you find parts for yours?
@PleasantValleyOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
The carb kit was aftermarket but many engine parts are still available from the local IH dealer. Most of the crawler parts are obsolete so they have to be custom machined or improvised. Thanks for watching

Hi just by looking at the way it was trying to start and the white smoke it is not coming completely of of the diesel side i have a TD6 61 series and it starts great even after sitting 6 months
@PleasantValleyOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s a possibility although I’ve gone through all the adjustments and clearances according to the manual and everything is set correctly but you still may be right. Thanks for your comment and for watching

When does the same thing I'm getting ready to pull the blade off and pull it in my shop and start stripping her down and running through the adjustments smokes about the same amount on his trying to run on gas I also noticed after letting it run for a while I guess that it will when you swap over it will pop a couple times but smooth ride

I have 3 of them. Not a td6 yet. But looking for one. But have the 9 12 and the 14. I switched all to electronic. No points. They have to have great spark to fire. As well as great fuel. They don’t like low grade gas. They really hate ethanol fuel. Could be lots of simple things that will make them hard starting. But I would suspect not with yours. Most from all the old timers I have talked to say they are just pain in but to start. So good luck!

Thanks for your input. It starts 100% easier since the carb rebuild. That was probably most of the problem but never thought about cheap fuel. I’ll have to try premium. Thanks for watching

Where can you find a starter for td9
@PleasantValleyOutdoors Жыл бұрын
On those old parts I’ve never had much luck doing a google search. If you have a local shop that rebuilds starters and alternators, they may have a source for hard to find parts. Thanks for watching

I have 2, a 43 and a 53. 53 is in parts and 35# of compression. 43 runs on gas after a half hour of tinkering. compression release will not stay engaged to run on gas must hold down. and right now i have know diesel pump preasure. May of 2021 is fresh information.
@PleasantValleyOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Have you adjusted the compression release mechanism. They’re pretty critical to get everything working right. I rebuilt the magneto last week and I’ll see if that helps with a hotter spark. Thanks for watching
