Rebuilding classic Delco Remy 12v generator starter generator

Rebuilding a classic Delco- Remy generator. These were used on millions of machines and vehicles. The one I am rebuilding comes off a Bolens/Husky g10 1055 tractor but most are similar. Watch as I show you how to remove it from the machine and figure out how to rebuild it.

I have the same model starter/generator on a 1964 Simplicity 9 HP Briggs Garden Mark Garden tractor. I was plowing snow and the generator bearings started screaming and the bearings seized up. I called a local auto-electric shop who says that they can rebuild it so I will take it in to them today. My Dad bought the tractor used in 1971 and the generator may have been rebuilt once already since then... can't remember for sure...so it is due for a rebuild after 50 years of use under his and then my ownership.

Does the rebuild kit come with instructions ? Would it make sense to spray any of the internal parts with silicone or a spray dielectric grease to prevent rust ? And what about sealing the end caps with some silicon caulk so water couldn't get in there ?
