I'm work in progress on rebuilding my Edson pedestal. One thing that works better than vise grips on removing the bottom bolt studs, is using two nuts to install on the stud tightly, then using a wrench on the bottom of the two nuts, to loosen the stud. Of course, some penetrant wil work on your favor. And if the studs are to be reused, then they'll be good. Mine has fore and aft play on the wheel shaft, so will replace that, and maybe the bearings.
