DuraLac is a pretty amazing compound. I recently did a full re-rig on a 52ft ketch that was built in the early 70's. There were several fasteners in the Mizzen Mast hardware I had to remove so I could repair the spreaders, they came out with no fuss and you could see the yellow compound still in the threads. Most of it seemed to have worn away but it really did its job where it counted it the finest nooks of the threads. I doubt they had ever been removed since the rig was assembled.

Be aware that Duralac can separate in the tube during longer-term storage. You have to massage the tube or even find something skinny to stir it in the tube. As well, really clean the thread on the tube because once that stuff dries it's a strong glue - I keep mine in an air-tight jar to try to stop the glueness from happening... with mixed results.
