It's not stupid to be cautious, but it's dumb to know why battery has to be disconnected. Hydrogen gases build up and welding sparks ignite them causing battery to explode

Pretty unlikely unless you are using the welder to charge the battery. Disconnecting the battery prevents any welding current from passing through the cars electronics. The voltage will take the path of least resistance - i.e. to the ground clamp.

In regards to the alignment sheet I feel the same way as you. Sounds like the dude is legit but….I would feel the same without the sheet. I’d take it back after you get back from Washington and have him put back on the rack and give you the alignment sheet from that recheck. I find it hard to believe the cradle is bad after you replaced it but it’s possible not likely. Best of luck!

Move the couches from the wall side and make them face the wall in an L shape and mount your TV. Use open plan apartment layout. This way you can watch TV and look out of those glass doors

Similar thing happened to me after last alignment. Camber was difficult to get into spec. / borderline due to worn bushings. The tech. didn’t save the final data. If you are worried, take the time to get it checked again.

Using weld tabs and a slide hammer go along way probably would have cut the qtr or even weld tabs and a come along winch and it’ll pull it out

Another reason to disconnect the battery is that you might toast some electronics, believe me, you may get weird issues when this happens. I believe because of the welding, you induce a high peak current through the electronics which needs to go somewhere and toast the weakest component.

For this type/price of car I’d expect a new rear quarter welded in rather than this type of fix as it’ll never be of the standard. FairPlay for showing it can be repaired to a certain standard but I wouldn’t be into buying a car with this type of repair. IMO
