@@mosinxnagantx7.62haiha2 Less fires would happen & they’d probably have working hydrants, full reservoirs, fully funded fire departments, etc. California is famous for burning down every year & full of environmental regulations making it impossible to implement common sense. Welcome in your far left woke liberal politicians which feed the problem & make things nightmarish. Wouldn’t hurt to try something different, the current status quo method of operations isn’t helping California at all.

I was pool builder in So Cal. I was was asked by one of my famous clients to drain his pool after his home burned down from the Woolsey Fire. It took a year to get the Permit. They wanted a hazmat truck to come and pump the pool out, the price was unbelievable. The truck never showed on the scheduled date. I looked at the home owner and said what do you want to do. Without hesitation he said do you have a pump, I responded Yes! Threw the pump in the pool and sent the water down the the culvert in rear of his property and it dissipated into the ground on its way down and that was that. We sat and drank a 6 pack of beer while we waited for the pool to drain. Sometimes you must take matters into your own hands. it took 6 years to rebuild his home, most of the time was due to bureaucratic BS. The Palasades will take twice as long, guaranteed.

I have posted this elswhere, but it merits repeating: As a retired contractor I can assure you people can't fathom the scope this clean-up. Imagine 1000 bulldozers scraping the hillsides and neighborhoods. Another 1000 excavators, backhoes and skid-steers picking it up and tearing out what's left. Several hundred dump trucks being loaded and criss-crossing streets lined with barricades and orange cones, etc, etc. Where will they put it all? You're not going to like it, but those former pristine canyons may become a landfill or two. Adjacent hills will be knocked down to cover the debris. That's the basics. Then the trenching begins for foundations, utility lines to be buried, new stand-alone fire systems. You get the picture. That's all before the building starts. Completing this cleanup with an updated, fire-friendly rebuild for Los Angeles for 150Bn dollars is baloney. We will be double or triple that amount by the time it's over... This will have to be coordinated and run by people that know how to do this. We can not just hand over this kind of money to the same people who didn't mitigate these fire damages and allowed San Francisco to get destroyed
@matthewdebrino60628 сағат бұрын

I live in Florida, where Hurricane, Ian, Helene and Milton hit. The amount of debris is incredible! Plus those double trailer haul trucks need a lot of room and time to pick up debris. Our hurricane debris was staged at county parks ( on the bigger ones), unused parking lots, landfills etc. It’s not pretty. Though, DeSantis had workers working around the clock after Helene to clear debris, because Milton was right on the heels of Helene. He was trying to prevent the damage from Helene from washing out into the ocean, canals, streets. He did not waste time. We did what we could in the 3 weeks, between those 2 hurricanes.
