Randy, just chop off those 2 rear resonators; leave all the cats... straight pipe it from there back.... you won’t get any check engine lights that way. I had a CVPI & did that... it was _pleeeenty_ loud!!

I think you should keep the p71 completely stock, and make it into a private security vehicle and add some white, amber lights on the front window visor, some corner strobe lights, grill and rear traffic directional bar, some tints and resell it at some point to some one who works as a private security officer, love these p71.

Your best bet may be. cut off the Mufflers after the H pipe and remove the Mufflers as well as all the exhaust pipe behind em. you may have to cut twice due to the rear end. That muffler delete won't have too bad a drone and actually is mellow at idle but when you need to hear it it's available at throttle. good compromise between stock and deleting the cats it's a happy medium. Some decent weight reduction if that matters .

It will probably drone on the interstate if you straight pipe it. I have one that I am using to build an F100 on that is currently just running the cats and no muffler. It sounds really good right now.

i wouldnt change anything on it. the reason is that what is on it is from the factory and this is what it preforms the best with. this is what it was designed to run. it wasnt designed to run anything else. some mods can cause a car to run like crap.

Randy,Do a catback exhaust with glass packs or turbo mufflers. Straight pipes will cause a loud rumble inside the cabin that is terrible at mid speeds.

So what you need to do is cut off the secondary cats from the cat's back 3in pipe will 60 series flowmaster mufflers

Leave it stock, straight pipes make it sound like you’re from the hood. Straight pipes take away from the authentic sound of a Crown Vic. I love flooring mine around town, opening up those fuel injectors, no sound like that. Make sure you swap the door locks off the passenger door. That will be a fun task also.

LEAVE THAT SAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST, and yes they all have dual exhaust. There are many things different between a civilian model an a P71. They just look a like kind of. I love them, I'm on my third one. :-) If you ever get to Florida.....I'll buy you a beer!

Drop in a 32 valve motor from a Lincoln Continental. Ford kept promising that engine for the CVPI to compete against the LT1 Caprice. They got a monopoly after the LT1 ended and thet never did it.

Check your driver door when you open it on the door itself...there will be a door card with your axle code....Z5 is a open 3.27 gear ... X5 is a 3.27 locking rear and C6 is a 3.55 locking gear...the most desirable and will light em up all the way down the block from a stop. Your welcome.

Leave all the cats in place. If you want to make it louder then put some performance mufflers on it and be done with it. When you start messing with the cats it gets stupid loud and resonates terribly. Trust me when I say I speak from experience.
