Really interesting to watch and follow the progress there Euan. My heart sank for you when you went to bolt in the chain guide..but helicoil saves the day, phew ha ha! 👏🏼

Shouldn't really but there's something satisfying in seeing someone else making the same stupid mistakes I do, more power to you for showing it👍

Really interesting even though I am so far from being able to do an engine to that degree also it's good to see that even an expert can forget to put something in 😉 and don't forget those safety glasses 😂great watch cheers 👌👍

I watched right to the end - bugger. After all that work 😢. Great save with the helicoil though

Hi Euan, hope you're keeping well and your patience has recovered. Good progress on the engine rebuild, 2 steps forward and one step back sometimes. And where would we be without helicoils? Thanks for sharing. Stay safe, always wear your safety glasses, and keep up the good work. 🧔👍✌

That’s rather interesting it’s bigger bro I guess you’d call it the gb 500 1987 is vertically split with a gear driven counterbalance at the front that input shaft balancer is new to me always liked those little cb rss’ my bro had one. Was keeping the oil industry slive lol

Not wanting to be rude or discouraging but we’re those main bearings new or used they sounded a tad ropey to me I wish u good fortune with this great little engine
@ShooglyShedMotors4 ай бұрын
I'm amazed you can diagnose worn bearings through a KZbin clip 👍🏻 Yes, they're used, but they run smooth as butter and sound more than ok to me. These types of bearings run in oil as opposed to a greased set. They'll always sound a tad louder than a set packed with grease. It's all in the feel. As demonstrated by my rotating the conrod to gauge the feel.

@@ShooglyShedMotors I’m used to hearing a rolling element. Bearing as in your ball brg mains and as u said yourself there’s been metal thru that engine I usually inspect the races for pitting etc if and go by feel we’re those bearings dry? I lightly lubed bearing in good nick will spin very smoothly that’s not what came across in the vid! Hope it’s good

Oh no you will have to split the cases again. Could be worse you could have missed out the part completely.
