@goonzquad, in this Truck it's not enough to just disconnect the battery, you also have to disconnect the hybrid battery as well. There is a connector, usually orange, which is located under the rear seat. If you don't turn it off, the car will continue to be powered by that battery and it will blow the airbags or it will burn any electronics when trying to solder something.

Yeah, the process is basically the same for all hybrid or electric cars, you always have to turn off the safety switch for the electric batteries. They already did this when they repair the Tesla Model X.

You do know that all that kit has been available in the Land Rover Defender for several years. Good to see Toyota gradually catching up. The SRS system has, as I understand, already had a recall for non activation. So you need to get that checked out but I guess that just makes you guys lucky with no airbag damage!!
