When you're using a blow torch to loosen a bolt, you have to hold the heat on it for some time, and often when you start to hear it crackle that's when all the grud holding it is starting to melt and burn

Well done getting the swingarm bolt out, I kept saying to myself hit it, stop tapping it and hit the thing 👍😁. I know how hard they can be to remove ,had to use a 50 ton press in the past to get one out. Looking forward to seeing what mess the engine is in ,hopefully just a clean up, bearings, seals and a rebore is all it needs, fingers crossed its not wrecked

If you are hammering out a stuck bolt then keep the nut on it to begin with. Just loosen off a few turns and hit the nut with the hammer. Then remove the bolt as it will be loose. Also get yourself a JIS screwdriver if you are going to working on Japanese bikes of this era. It may look like a Philips headed screw but they mash up really easily

Isnt the whole thing about two strokes that the oil is mixed with the fuel and therefore there’d be no oil in the engine when you take the drain bolt of cause everything gets burned with combustion
@bananabrooks3836
@bananabrooks3836 Жыл бұрын
The oil to lubricate the clutch/gearbox resides in the engine. This needs changing more often than a 4 stroke as typically there is less of it. Whereas the oil for lubricating the piston/cyl is mixed with fuel in the tank.

Don't waste the time and effort doing a nut and bolt restoration. I've built a number of bikes, from wrecks worse than yours, but I've not restored any. Just focus on making it look good rather than like it is sat on the showroom floor. After the first hour on it, when the frame paint is scuffed and the panels get some scratches, you won't have wasted all of that extra effort on pointless tarty bits that are getting knocked about.
