I know it was a few years but how did you figure out the position for that shift rod going down? I just pulled mine and of coarse pulled the shift rod up so don’t know what position it went. Thank you

Good job there buddy , I watched your tear down vids basically the same time I was rebuilding my 97 120hp .. now a days you can find carbon fiber reeds very easy upgrade for $80 on ebay ... also you will need the gaskets ... gives the motor a bit more balls ...

Wow very good inspired me to try this on any bad outboard I run into. Remember to lean is bad follow directions. Sure they run great but blow up. Run some Penz oil or Cabelas oil good. If I had spare steering wheel I would send it to ya that one is little old lol

what is the top speed you are getting ?? and after the rebuild how much compression did you end up with?

Thanks. The Force gets a bad rap from a lot of people. It really depends what year you get. This is a 99, the last year of the Force and its a decent motor. The earlier models weren't this good, Chrylser owned Force in the 80's and they weren't great, Mercury bought them in the early 90's and made some small changes which made them better. In reality, if you get a good running motor with nice even compression and take care of it, brands don't matter so much, provided you paid the right price.
