I use red glazing putty. To spread it evenly and the vertical cut lines I use a artist painting knife. For the horizontal grooves I use a cheap dollar store plastic comb. Dip both the knife and the comb in paint thinner before sculpting the lines... It helps to keep the coating from sticking to the tools / clogging up the comb

I found your video and really like it. Did you paint the body from the dark gray early model to the light gray base? What did u use for your yellow? I think the germans called it a dark yellow but i like your shade.

The grey you see is not the original grey that the tank came in, but is my own shade and was airbrushed on. The yellow is also my own color but it is very close to tamiya Dark yellow. This too was airbrushed. Thanks for liking the video, cheers.

I have a question! The Tiger is in your possession (Private Collection) as I understand it! So back to my question, did you move the fulcrum to the front, since Heng Long's tiger has a fake fulcrum, too much into the back of the tower? Cannon Aperture Moves Up and Down .... That should not be so !!

yes, the model is in my collection. As for your question, no the fulcrum is stock. I'm aware of the false fulcrum point but for my builds I have no real issues with the stock setup. BTW this is also present on the Taigen / torro, and the mato model. The only 1/16 tiger model that has this correct is the Tamiya.

Good video, since this video, Heng Long has made a lot of changes that you have made; headlights, mantlet, separate tools, etc. I have a newer one with most of these issues corrected.

"Tiki" was a real Tiger I from the SSPzAbt.102 , the name was a nickname for one of the crew member's girlfriend. As for paint that depends on the type of tiger you have (early / late ) and which theater you want to replicate ( russia 1942, Normandy 1944 ...etc)

Mitch Brennan For all my colors I use my own mixes, but I recommend model master german uniform grey, Tamiya Panzer grey, or Model master Schwartzgrau . I also recommend Tamiya Dark yellow

not sure if it can be done with the stock electronics. You would need to replace them with electronic speed controllers that are adjustable.

George Tingus Just been working on a 2015 version of this kit, they improved the electronics to have speed, sound, and smoke and the radio has a replaceable crystal. All nice improvements from this 2005 version.

You need a turntable.. even a cheap cake turntable would work for displaying.

+James White If yours is the newer one with the sound system you need to first "start the engine" Push the button with the engine symbol on it and the tank will fire up, the lights will stop blinking and you will then be able to drive.

The model was requested to be painted this way because the person I built it for seen it in a video Game and wanted it to look the same. The real tiki did look different

dam good video.:-) the gun barrel length is correct, its a 1941-42 era 88 l56 gun, its scale is 30.8cm which is correct. the later version has the longer 88 l71 and different wheels.

If you mean the stock barrel, no it's too short. It is in the recoiled state. The same mod was done on the M26's barrel so it fits in the box. The kit is a knock off the tamiya tank which has the barrel at the correct length. As for the late war / early war tigers the barrel lengths were basically the same, only the muzzle breaks were different.

Shame you replaced the cupola in the wrong position. Should open at the 2 o'clock position.

To make the copula open up at 2 o'clock the vision slits would be located in the wrong spots due to the way the copula is molded. In the future I'll replace the entire copula with a better aftermarket one,

Yes, you're right. I suppose it's down to better of two evils. I went for mid version in the end with the later cupola.

you should really invest in a cake turn table dont caust much and you can set the tank on them and just spin it that way instead of picking it up by hand and turning it, good video though man!

you can get it on ebay now for about 152...for metal tracks and gears...smoke and sound....then upgrade from there

+James White I assume the battery is fully charged and the batteries in the radio are fresh. If those are not the culprit then it sounds like you might have something unplugged on the inside or worse case scenario something is faulty / burned. Was the tank new, or was it something that recently happened to the model where it was working and it stopped? Also Are the tracks Jammed / wedged? try to rotate the tracks / sprocket by hand. They should move and not be locked up

If you want to model an accurate Tiki you should drill out two holes just above the drivers vision slot as Tiger 812 had two vision ports just like most early Tigers.

The speed controller is electrical, but does not have proportional drive. Mechanical speed controllers use a servo to move a slider which activates the motors

oddball759mm yes, but the lack of adjustable speed makes it look like a toy instead of a model, while its moving

I agree. These on off style speed controllers are a weak point of these RC models.

Yes and people have done it, you also replace the radio. I didn't do it for this build to save on costs and to save on time. For the purposes of this build the stock setup works for me.
