Thanks for the video. I don't know if it's new, but in raspi-config you can now change the boot priority to boot from USB before SD card. My Recalbox is on an external USB drive and I have a plain vanilla Raspbian on the SD-Card and it boots to Recalbox when I plug that drive in.

Have you tried running the Pi 5 from an SSD? By the way the Pi foundation made an announcement regards availability- they are ahead of schedule as things stand. I’d like one, but i just picked up an Amiga mini used, so it’ll have to wait. Yet I hope people really love the pi 5 and I hope there’s a pi 500!

Don't have many performance issues running N64 on Pi 4 / 400, but I do overclock conservatively its cpu = 1980 + gpu = 550 for stability. The key tweak for me was changing Mupen64Plus-Next.opt mupen64plus-43screensize = "320x240" with mupen64plus-ThreadedRenderer = "True" and it upscales nicely to 1920x1080. I do have a N64 bezel overlay on, but leave the shader really simple with bilinear.slangp On Pi 5, I overclock cpu = 2640 + gpu = 880 and keep the same Mupen64 settings here -- all N64 games run flawlessly.

Hello, I have a problem, I also have the raspberry 5 and recalbox 9.2.3 and it only happens to me with PSP that the hotkey does not work, I cannot exit the game. Does anyone know if I have to change the bios or what I have to do?

I kind of want to see how the ps2 emulator would handle something more cinematic like Peter Jackson’s King Kong or large loading like Disney skate adventure with loading entire worlds to play at 1 time. 🤔 If you could test it out, that would be amazing! Although if not, here is hoping the pi5 comes back in stock soon 😅

The system works really well, the only problem I have is that I don't know where the PS2 isos come in because the PS2 folder doesn't exist under the ROMs or have you given it a different name

The problem is that I have the system on an M2 with a PCI adapter and since it always boots directly into the system, I can't get into the Raspi config so I can change it If it boots from SD card, can you tell me how I can change it so that I can boot from SD again

You should be able to set a higher resolution from the retroarch quick menu in the Saturn game you’re playing. Then restart the emulator.

Absolutely. In fact, we've made a lot of videos available on our KZbin channel to show you the upscaling potential of this Raspberry Pi 5. However, not all games tolerate the same settings, some being more demanding than others.

It’s a US version, I have an Everdrive and had to change the settings to play either 50 or 60 hz (I.e. PAL vs NTSC)

Also it can depend on the tv/screen. I hung onto a small tv that could work in both regions, but if I tried playing NTSC on my old tv I’d just get a blank screen - I think my current tv does both so that’s fine.

Retropie on orange pi 5 has aethersx2 emulator, why does not recalbox or batocera include it?

I don't think the situation is quite what you think it is. I don't use Recalbox or Batocera but as far as I am aware, they are just "front ends" for a complete emulation system that essentially allows you to plug in the additional emulators that you want to put in there. As far as I am aware, there is a "libretro" standard for emulators such that if they are written to that standard, then the configuration of those emulators can be controlled externally through RetroPie and without having to create a separate configuration file for each one. I would assume that Recalbox and Batocera can also use that libretro standard. I believe you can use any executable emulator on these front ends anyway because they are just advanced program launchers - but you may then not be able to configure them through the front end.

Simply because retropie is based on raspberry pi os. So it's easier for them to add a package. On the other hand, we've opted for a linux system written from scratch via Buildroot. This inevitably requires more development and optimization time to add additional functionalities or systems. The advantage is that you get an ultra-light, responsive, fluid operating system that's totally Plug and Play and can be used without any configuration on your part.

Indeed, as we've said in numerous videos, it's a fine evolution, but not necessarily a revolution. However, just being able to play Saturn and all other systems in 60 fps is already quite a revolution. Unfortunately, this was not the case with the raspberry Pi 4.
