If Adekugbe is ready, I'd be playing him LB and Phonzie up forward, but still with defensive runs back. Adekugbe and Phonzie were better than Phonzie and Millar. If no Adekugbe, Phonzie at LB, yes. But I'd want Ahmed getting a look at left wing. Liam looked capable but we'll want some options. No way should Ahmed not be going to Copa.

We played the best squad at the world cup. we played the way john herdsman asked. nothing lost. but marsche has taken his pieces given to him, added some more, taught them a pressing game and its literally the kind of youth that will shine under jesse marsch. he added a bunch of youth, it seems to me and yeah we look great after facing dutch and france. the guys believe in the system 100% it seems. I cant be more excited for them as we land in Atlanta

At 36:52, that's where you need a CAM to be on that ball Phonzie cuts back. I'm super proud of how the boys played, but I don't understand how to reconcile playing the way they did today with fielding 2 strikers up top. Why not a 4-1-4-1 with Kone drifting forward like a faux 10? A 4-1-4-1 fits the style of today's play perfectly.

Who would you put in as the 3rd midfielder? Osorio seems the most natural option to me, unless you want Piette as a pure #6 with Eustaquio slightly higher in a more defensive configuration

@@felix-antoine Well, I want to see Eustaquio in the 6 with Kone and Ahmed as 8s. I see Ahmed fairing very, very well against Chile and Peru, but he might not even come! (surprised we haven't seen the squad announcement yet). In that case, if Canada end up doing very selective pressing as we saw against France, then I'd start Hoilett with the expectation that he looks to provide short ground service to David (Hoilett's brilliant awareness and silky smooth delivery with David's runs), even if he only puts in 45 mins and Osorio plays the second half. Hoilett's quality should not be underestimated and he really could be a difference maker on set pieces. But clearly Hoilett is not a presser so even if they're only pressing selectively Marsch will only sub him in for Buchanan if absolutely necessary. It is what it is. I understand that the overall system needs to be the priority (though surely some exceptions should be made in order to get your goal scorers scoring?!) If we could manage to get a lead, maybe Piette comes in to help see out the game alongside Eustaquio and Kone, but more than likely Piette only sees minutes in the worst case scenario (injury).

@@greglawrence9230 Yes, that makes sense, I'd also prefer Eustaquio as a #6 in a 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3. I've heard a lot of good things about Ahmed, but I haven't really seen him play since I don't follow the Whitecaps and I'd be surprised to see him start at the Copa America given that Jesse Marsch did not even call him up for the friendlies, but we'll see. Hopefully Canada can have a good performance at the Copa

@@felix-antoine Ahmed will be making a move to Europe before long. There are some players whose styles and strengths just translate better to the higher levels of the game, and Ahmed is one of those players. He thrived on the national team from his very first moments. Even if he gets the call in, for sure he won't start against Argentina (will be the same XI as France) and probably not Peru or Chile either, cause the formation won't likely change.

@@felix-antoine We just got confirmation that Ahmed and JRR are coming to Copa (Zator and Brym pushed out). Very low chances we see Ahmed in a central midfield role. I'm thinking he likely subs in for Buchanan. Sure hope he sees minutes, one way or another. I still hold out a tiny bit of hope that Marsch pulls a tactical surprise move and switches the formation (underdogs need every advantage they can muster), but it's highly unlikely. So glad Ahmed got the nod. Well deserved.

Ismael Kone was terrific... Crepeau played like it was the game of his life (or the World Cup he missed)... Anyways, I could go on sharing about all the great individual performances against France... I'm very proud of the core CMNT group that emerged with 3 days rest to give the World Cup runners-up a great game of friendly footy... On to Copa!!
