Yeah, rewatch that kick, TT also had an amazing punting game with massive hang times but what he did to not only grab that horrible snap was down right godlike to get it down and in place so the master could break a record that was just previosly broken. Not to mention that it barely slipped bast two defenders. Talk that either could have been MVP is legit.

@jeffkan17 ай бұрын
I hear ya. I would even take it a step further: I think many fans didn't understand why KC didn't call a timeout there at the end of OT. I thought they should have, because SF is up by 3, and if the clock goes to 0:00 and KC doesn't get the TD, SF wins. I think KC was lucky, they took a huge risk ... if Hardman had dropped the ball or Mahomes had missed him, there would have been 2 or 3 secs left to kick the FG and go to the 2nd OT. Maybe Reid and Mahomes knew that they would have some time left if they didn't get the TD, but WOW what a huge gamble.
@senseisprotege36327 ай бұрын
@@jeffkan1 Incorrect. If that clock had run out, it was the end of the 1st quarter of overtime. They simply would’ve walked the field to continue the game at the other end. Tony Romo explained it beautifully and told everyone to calm down. The Chief’s not only knew this - they noticed SF didn’t & said, “let’s get a play off before they get set” Super Bowl Champs again - because they pay attention/listen 👂🏽
@senseisprotege36327 ай бұрын
@@jeffkan1 P.S. the primary reason the game was to continue, is because the Chiefs were still on their 1st overtime possession. The 49ers ate most of that clock on their 1st drive and each team gets one 😉

I suppose if you're a mouth breather who only likes high scoring affairs, this may not have been your cup of tea. But half of football is DEFENSE! Both teams played their tails off to the very end. Scoring was hard. Scoring SHOULD be hard. Props to the NINERS and their fans as well as my heartfelt appreciation of how you feel after this game. As a lifelong Chiefs fan, I know what pain is. Congratulations on a great season and good luck next year. You are almost always spot on. But you missed the forest through the trees here.

@@Orphim Probably 6 yard per touch because of the long touchdown reception.
@greggibson337 ай бұрын
Yep, he had the touches but that's why you have back-up's. Shanahan's first instinct is pass first even when you have the lead. That doesn't work. It was their game to win but they forced Purdy to make all the plays. Run the ball more in the second half, keep the ball away from Mahomes, and they win easy. Bad decision.
@Wargasm547 ай бұрын
The sad part is, the Niners had it in the bag. 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Niners only needed 4 yards. And they had 2 plays to get 4 yards. Give the ball to CMC. He gets the 4 yards. Even if it takes him 2 downs. Then the Niners milk the clock, kick the field goal, win the Superbowl. Easy peasy. But instead, what did they do? They give the ball back to Mahomes with 2 minutes left. Might as well have handed him the Lombardi trophy right then and there. Niners had their foot on the Chiefs throat. They took it off, and got what they deserved. Dumb play call by Shanahan in critical moments. Unprepared. To bolster that point, the Niners players were completely oblivious to the OT rules. Whereas the Chiefs players were fully briefed on OT rules and were prepared with contingencies. This goes to show the preparation of Reid vs Shanahan.

It's not surprising the Chiefs went for the TD before the first OT ended. They already had the 49ers on their heels as they were exhausted from the drive already. Chiefs kept the momentum going and rightfully went for the game winning TD play. If they had let the clock run out, the 49ers would've had a little rest and reset before the second OT began.
@jeffkan17 ай бұрын
Hey noso, I am trying to understand the OT rules for the playoffs, just looking for information and education on my part. If KC had let the clock run out, SF is up 3 at that point. Doesn't SF win the game at that point? Just wanting to understand here. I know I was screaming at KC to call a timeout. But I thought, the only way there is a second OT, is if it's tied at the end of the first OT. Thanks!
@90sono7 ай бұрын
@jeffkan1 The answer is no. It would end as if it's the end of the 1Q because the Chiefs were still in their first drive and it would go on to the 2OT on the other end of the field
@shanenelson58117 ай бұрын
@@jeffkan1Like he stated already above? The Chiefs were still on their 1st overtime offensive possession. So, no. The game would have continued. That's why people are needing to talk about how the 49er players weren't aware of the overtime rules more. Because their entire defense is sitting there looking at the clock about to dwindle to 0, and they are thinking the Chiefs are about to run out of time, and they were probably shocked the Chiefs weren't in field goal formation to attempt to tie before the overtime clock had run out. Little did they know the Chiefs get to complete their first overtime possession to completion. Even if it's past the 1st overtime alloted clock. The 49ers were ill prepared in the 4th, and overtime. Shanahan was completely schooled by Reid.
