As a Missourian and Chiefs fan, 10 years ago we felt lucky just to have a winning season. I thought Alex Smith was finally taking our team somewhere. But ended up short. Mahomes came in. So many people thought he wasn't the answer we needed. He turned this team around so fast, his first year Patriots ruined our chances but you couldn't be more proud in a QB than Mahomes. That Super Bowl win in 2020 was the most emotional time as a KC sports fan. I'm just enjoying every bit of this Mahomes team while it lasts. He's already HOF worthy

As a Broncos fan, now I understand what the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets felt like for two decades with Brady in their division. If the Broncos ever beat the Chiefs when Mahomes doesn’t have the flu, I will feel as if we won a superbowl because that’s how damn good you all are. Also, I don’t care if Kelce plays as a modern tight-end which receives the ball more. If ANYBODY beats a record held by Jerry Rice they are instantly an all time great. Enjoy the success while it lasts, maybe the Broncos will beat you guys at some point during the next 17 games. 🧡💙

The chiefs scoring on their first and second drives, meant Ravens play catch up. All the rest is noise, but Ravens play different when they are behind, a certain desperation and chance taking throws, Throws they normally wouldn't try to force them into play......it was a game plan from the chiefs that had to start with chiefs scoring first and staying ahead, and then, just game manage after that until the end. Brilliant really.

I am still in awe of Spag's planning and coaching during this game. Watching the D-Line creating literal picket lines around Lamar, caging him in, daring him to throw the ball, not even rushing, just standing there with their hands at chest level and looking him in the eye, was just masterful football intelligence (still sacked him four times). Ravens destroyed every other worthy opponent on their quest to the Bowl and were defeated by the Final Boss.

Bro, looking back at it a day later, im still just an awe of how truly elite Spags is at what he does. Dude literally took this defense to another level tbis year and it’s only gunna keep getting better. Like everybody said, if you were gunna get the chiefs, tbis was the year to do it. When they’re the most vulnerable. If you couldn’t do It this year, you might as well just pack it in. Cause this team is only gunna keep getting better. This will be the worst team of the Mahomes era and they still might hoist the Lombardi trophy. I don’t think people actually understand the greatness that we’re all witnessing right now.

Rich, your analysis of this game is the best I’ve heard so far. I analogize the way the Chiefs handle a second half lead to the way a hockey team goes into a defensive shell to protect a lead. @@DadbotPeople who don't know football said that the Chiefs offense didn't do anything in the 2nd half. Mahomes has figured out the art of winning. They just run run punt and play defense when they are up by two scores. When he needs to be aggressive, Mahomes does. It's by design. They gave the best QB of a generation a defense finally (like Brady had when he started).

@@dalehammers4425 Because it is EXTREMELY rare that he blocks. He almost never blocks on passing downs because he's a primary receiver so that leaves rush blocking pretty much exclusively and he is a below average run blocker, statistically speaking. Compared to Gronk, who is a greater play maker than Kelce is but probably doesn't have his hands but was an all time great at blocking for the position. It isn't a ridiculous take it just upsets Chiefs fans to talk about it because they think it diminishes him. He's great at what he does, but he's essentially a WR that lines up at the TE spot.

I was 18 months old when the Chiefs won SB IV....and in the next 50 years the Chiefs appeared in only ONE AFC Championship Game (for the youngsters here, the first four Superbowls were prior to the AFL-NFL merger, so there was no such thing as an AFC.....). They made it to the AFC CG one of the years when the Bills went to four straight SBs back in the early '90s, when Joe Montana was the Chiefs' QB. So now to make SIX straight AFC CGs in the Mahomes era is absurd, and I'm just lapping up every single second of it.

They didn’t have to put up any points in the second half, Patrick said they got the lead, and the defense kept it. The defense really took the pressure off Mahomes, all he had to do was, take care of the ball, and let the defense work, they both get paid, sometimes, “the defense” wins games, and those were the adjustments made at halftime, stop them from scoring, take it down by down, protect the ball, and manage the game, to you it looks like Baltimores defense stopped Mahomes, (when they couldn’t do it just 30 minutes ago) and gives them something to hang their hat on, but this was the adjustment at half time, what else did they need to do, but protect the lead, you do that, you win, it was about the Defense, and Patrick Mahomes just happens to be the Star on the team, and their focus. It was a masterclass in mind manipulation.

He's not like Gates, Gonzalez, and Gronk where you loft one up in the endzone and let him go "get a rebound" like those converted basketball players. From losing in the SB to knocking on the door of the NFC championship 2 years in a row, it really feels like they're headed for that final crest of the mountaintop. But once again, it's another situation like the Ravens, where top to bottom, the 49ers have the better roster except at QB. If Shanahan can't out-coach Andy Reid, then he'll lose like the Ravens did.
