I love listening to Howard McNear. What a surprise ending, even for an old codger like me. Great stuff!

😂I agree with most of the posts here... this was a hell of an ending. Probably the best JD Episode I've ever heard.

The best Johnny Dollar episode I've ever heard--and I've heard years of them. A big thumbs up.

I don't know about this particular episode just yet (I've already heard all of the Edmond O'Brien episodes but only about a dozen or so John Lund eps, so far), but many of these fine 5-parters were reworkings of scripts used in the O'Brien and Lund eras of the series; but because of the added time (15 minutes × 5 weekday parts = 75 minutes per story per week) the stories and characters are fleshed out much better than they could have been when the series prior to the Bob Bailey and Jack Johnstone era was confined to just 30 minutes per weekly episode. Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar was a hard radio series to top during its Bailey and Johnstone's run, especially during that classic first season with the 5-parters; old time radio just doesn't get better than this! (Gunsmoke was another great one, though.)

I first had XM Radio in a vehicle a bit over 20 years ago. Almost immediately I began catching Edmond O'Brien's Johnny Dollar performances. Had to be almost precisely 20 years; on my way to the New Jersey shore to do some surf fishing. The memory of those episodes imprinted on me and I still hold them in high esteem. The Bob Bailey episodes felt more 'fleshed out' to me. So, sometime around 2007 or so I would listen for Mr. Bailey's performances as 'The Man with the Action Packed Expense Account!' These are handy for longer drives. I _must_ have heard them all by now but in the great scheme of things the Bob Bailey episodes all sound fresh enough to me.

Sorry, folks - have to disagree - the legal term 'cui bono' translates as 'to whom is the benefit', and is a standard Latin phrase found in legal briefs and discussions.
