I am fifty five years old, long after the Golden age of radio days. Yet, I love these radio stories. This is one of my favorites of Johnny Dora. BTW, Bob Bailey was the best.

This episode was so bloody it was like either a Gunsmoke radio episode written by John Meston or a movie directed by Quentin Tarantino.

A rich man running a town in his own way, cutting corners and pocketing cash. Reminds me of the movie road house.

When the chapters were happening back then, you'd have to be there every night to catch the next chapter, if not, there was a recap. Now you get the whole 65 + minutes. There is more room for the program story's to develop. The chapter Dollar story's are the best, I believe there are over 50 of them, I have over 30, including the Christmas one; THE NICK SHERN MATTER, which I believe is the title ? I make sure that it's Bob Bailey all the way. Well, mostly. Edmond O' Brien is one of my favorite actors, so I will check him out once in a while as Johnny Dollar.

For those who enjoy looking up the biographies of the supporting cast, those mentioned at the end are Jeanette Nolan, Lucile Meredith, Carlton Young, Herb Ellis, Jack Petruzzi, Bob Bruce, Paul Richard’s, Herb Butterfield, Edgar Barrier, Russell Thorson, Jack Moyels and Frank Gerstle

So far, this has been the most "involved" episode I've heard. Wow. Great writing and production. Plus...is the character "Roy Vickery" the best "Orson Welles" imitation you ever heard?
@debbieking35755 жыл бұрын
Yea the most involved alot to it. Its a really good episode!

The Sherriff sounds a lot like a good Lionel Barrymore impersanator.

According to Al Davies, Julian Osborne lived in the hotel where Johnny was staying but the desk clerk never heard of him. But then we’re told Osborne lived in the school’s basement. Still, an enjoyable episode.
