I like these choices, even though I'm not super familiar with all of these actors. I think Amber Midthunder is a bit too old, though. She's 26, and having a Katniss and Peeta that are 7 years apart feels a bit off to me, and the same goes for Katniss being older than Gale.

I’m so happy to see this! Hopefully we get more parts with the other (major, named) characters. I honestly feel like Katniss was very miscast in the original movies, not just because J-Law doesn’t have the “olive skin tone” described in the books, but because she was too….healthy looking. I get why she didn’t want to lose weight, but Katniss is supposed to be super skinny because she essentially lives in poverty. Your casting choices, however, are spot on. I know when most people heard the “olive skin” they assume Hispanic origin, but having Indigenous origin could also work!

I had not heard of any of these young stars, but seeing them and hearing your reasoning I am sold! The guy you picked for Gale in particular looks a lot more like who I pictured when reading the books. I love Josh Hutcherson's performance but I agree that his physicality didn't ever really sell me on the strength aspect of Peta. Your choice seems like a solid casting. Amber Midthunder, wow! Yes. Again I am sold.

Bro, I’m telling you, Sam Neill as President Snow. He’s in his 70s which is the perfect age, he has kind of a wide mouth that is a bit snakelike, and just watch him in Daybreakers to see how menacing he can be.

Love it. Gale and Peeta are great. Amber looks younger to me so I don't mind her and she has great presence. The actress who plays Katniss needs to have action (and acting) chops more than anything and she definitely does. I appreciate that you looked harder for Indigenous actors, I love that take. I think Jashaun St. John would've fit here too. Melody Hurd for Rue! She's described as dark skinned in the book so she fits perfectly.

Midthunder does look like a good fit overall, but two things I’d want to see for Katniss are: 1) age-accuracy. She’s 16 so ideally the actress playing her should be under 20. 2) It’s a repeated point in the books that Katniss is petite. (This is something that I really struggled with with Lawrence in the role.). Katniss’s ability to climb trees was second only to Rue’s for a reason. She was tiny enough to perch on small branches. This is also why she was easily underestimated by the careers (and overpowered by Clove). Clove was supposed to be of average or even above-average height and solidly built, while Katniss was short and roughly 100lbs (give or take a few). I get why people want avoid the “petite skinny girl” trope, but anyone who wasn’t a career or a townie was thin (again, food scarcity); and they’d have to make Clove even larger to suspend disbelief that she so easily overpowered Katniss based on brute strength alone. (You also have the issues of her going high enough into trees that athletic careers couldn’t reach her.)

Honestly some pretty good picks, especially your pick for Katnis and Petra. I'd love to see you cast a handful of DC characters since we already have a few castings such as David Corenswet as Superman which you actually predicted but I'd love to see you do a series for DC characters you'd like to see or specific heroes, teams and villains that could be expected to debut in James Gunn's DCU.

Well, Katniss is suppose to be on the Native side actually which is described in the books that she is olive skinned. And that's why Erana James is I think by far the best choice. Not only her looks, but it's her emotions that embodies the character, which honestly she would've killed it in that role tho is like around 24, but still I just couldn't help it.

So, I’m guessing you never opened any of the books? Katniss is described as having “olive skin”, which is exactly where Jennifer Lawerences’ skin tone falls. Another funny thing, her career was flourishing at that time- in 2012, the year The 1st Hunger Games premiered, she starred in 3 films. She also won an Oscar for Best Actress in one of them. Josh Hutcherson did a FANTASTIC job as Peeta, especially with the injuries he sustained during the 1st games being written out of the film. I also am a die hard fan of Kit Connor, but Josh Hutcherson’s career pre-hunger games was much more extensive. I genuinely don’t care who plays Gale. They changed the character SO MUCH from the book version - my golden retriever could play him.

I've been watching reactions of the trilogy over the past few days and I have to mostly agree with your assessment of Peeta. Hutcherson brought the gentleness and had decent to good chemistry with Jennifer Lawrence, but watching it all over again, it hit me something always bugged me about his version of Peeta. The books described him as sort of bulky and muscular, IIRC. Can't remember the height though, but it would probably have to be tall to look as imposing as the books imply. Anyway, Hutcherson just 'aint it, as likeable as he seems to be onscreen and off. Would love to see someone else nail the role, just crush it! Plus I'm a Gale stan, so there's that. I'm down for your pick for Katniss. Can't remember what else I saw her in, but she looks more book accurate at least.

Katniss Everdeen: Iman Vellani (she's basically the right age for Katniss-though as I'm relatively unfamiliar with the Hunger Games, I will accept that there might well be better choices out there). Peta: Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with Kit Connor, but that's because I don't really see a better option out there. Gale: Matt Lintz? (Again, roughly the right age, but otherwise, I'm not confident about my own thinking here).

I honestly think that Millie Bobby Brown and her fiancée Jake Bongiovi would be picture perfect as Katniss and Peeta in The Hunger Games TV Series reboot for Netflix and for us fans to really spend time each season in the Hunger Games battles and follow the different characters both in the Capital and the Districts to go full mature with the violence and killing and that my friends would be a TV series we would actually like.

Contrary to popular opinion, I never actually liked Lawrence as Katniss. I’ve always thought that Tracy Spiridakos would’ve fit better, and looked exactly how I imagined the character. Of course both she and Lawrence are too old now to be playing believable 16 year olds, so it doesn’t matter now. I do like your choices here though. Especially for Gale.
