I was thinking the same thing. At any point in the story after Episode III, normal aging would no longer affect his look and he the actor would be under heavy makeup anyway. It probably wouldn't hurt to recast him, but there would be no reason for it if Ian McDiarmid is available. There shouldn't really be much difference between Palpatine in this time versus Rise of Skywalker.

People are theorizing that The Bad Batch could potentially tell the story of luke training the new Jedi. Regardless if if this theory is right or not I think they're on the right track. Its very unlikely for them to recast luke, so they would probably tell that story through animation.

The Bad Batch show is going to atleast start at the very end of the clone wars, so about 25 years prior to RotJ. If that theory was correct, which it is not, the bad batch clones would be 72 years old by RotJ, which is the minimum for when Luke would start training new Jedi. TL;DR: Theory makes no sense due to timeline.

Deep fake for a scene or two is fine. But an entire series isn't really a realistic idea. It doesn't look right and should be used sparingly. Using an actual actor is still always better

i disagree for two reasons. One, it was important for this reveal to be OBVIOUSLY Luke for the casual viewer, not "who is that Jedi? He kinda looks like Luke". Second, there are rumors that there will be a time jump for Mando 3 and the new shows...that could at the very least be LucasFilm's stated reasoning for the CG Luke here and the casting of Sebastian Stan for after the time jump. Luke should be about 28 here and Stan is 38. I'm expecting to jump ahead about 5 years.

I know a few years back Millie Bobby Brown had expressed interest in playing Princess Leia. Although depending on how soon this would be she would still be quite young, so she would fit as a young Leia while your casting would make more sense for a post Jedi show.

I thought the Emperor wasn't even showing himself until the reveal in the last movie. There is no need to cast him, besides the actor that plays him is still alive, and it isn't like he needs to look younger. What about Han Solo. What I don't understand is that everyone has been screaming that Sebastian Stan looks SO MUCH like Mark Hamill, and they've both expressed interest/approval for the role to go to Sebastian. I don't know if it's a money issue, or the producers/directors just not acknowledging it, but they have a perfect Luke Skywalker and don't need to rely on CGI. I do feel like there's more to it, and a reason why he hasn't been cast. I know big fans were overly happy to see Luke at the end of the episode in The Mandalorian, but I watched some Reaction Videos and I kept hearing "omg it's Luke... is it Sebastian Stan??" And then the "No it isn't but OMG it's Luke!" - I think over all, everyone was happy and the effects weren't too terrible, but a real actor would have been better and what a way to kick off Sebastian Stan in the role than at that moment... Is it cuz Sebastian Stan is 6ft and Mark Hamill is 5ft 7in? I see you, Hollywood.

Honestly, I'd love to see you do a casting of various characters from the currently non-canon expanded universe. Most especially, I'd like to see how you'd bring the New Jedi Academy characters to life (most especially because I'd rather see Grogu grow up and train alongside Jacen and Jaina rather than possibly just end up being killed by Ben). So a video casting, say, Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo, Tenel Ka, Zekk, and Tahiri Veila would be really fun to see, in my opinion. Maybe throw Mara Jade in as well.

@@MisterPrince01 the era is great... in legends. It has a lot of potential and great elements to bring back from the EU. But the sequels are irredeemable (especially TFA). They introduced things that are straight up nonsensical, they rendered most if not all accomplishments and character development irrelevant from the OT. For example Han is back at square one as a self-interested smuggler, Luke's development confronting Vader and the Emperor was conveniently forgotten, also who leaves behind a map, if he doesn't want to be found? The difference between the ST and PT is that the prequels added to the characters and lore not subtracted.

Billie looks nothing like young Leia which means that casting her would not only break the movie meta (cause she's already a named character) but also be solely for sentimental reasons. I think it's time this fanbase acted like actual adults and come to terms with the fact that Carrie Fisher will always be the "true" Leia but that the "character" can and should be played by an actress who actually looks like her. Unfortunately not every celebrity child has been blessed to resemble their parent so much that they can convinclingly play a younger version of them like O'Shea Jackson Jr. in Straight Outta Compton.

@@bluepearl_22, Who said anything about a look alike? My agreement with Billie Lourd has nothing to do with how she looks. Getting a look alike who can also act (like Sebastian Stan) is extremely rare. Did Alden Ehrenreich look like Harrison Ford? Not even a little bit. Did Donald Glover look like Billy Dee Williams? Not at all. How 'bout Chris Pine? Does he look like William Shatner? Nope. I could go on and on with this. Look alike is not the goal. Fan acceptance is the goal. Stan has fan acceptance because he is areas ringer. Lourd has fan acceptance because she would be a dynasty. You can be one of the very few who doesn't accept it. The majority of us won't care.

@@Kahless_the_Unforgettable Unlike the other characters you mentioned, William Shatner didn't have a live action portrayal as a reference before until Chris Pine so that point makes no sense. All the others have already been played by real actors before so looking/acting the part is one of the key factors for recasting them. Just because you think that Ehrenreich or Glover didn't look like young Han and Lando doesn't mean that's actually the case cause there are plenty of people who think they did, although I did think that Glover's portrayal as Lando was absolutely abysmal. Also, why should we follow the example of one of the most mediocre movies in the franchise? Casting Billie just because she is Carrie's daughter undermines the integrity of the character imo cause maintaining a "dynasty" would be the prime factor which it shouldn't. If they actually wanted to honor her character they would and should cast someone primarily for their ability to truly emody the role which ultimately comes down to looks and acting skills and there are multiple competent actresses out there who could fill the part. I mean there is a reason why people were screaming for Ingruber to play young Han regardless of his overall acting skills (he should have btw). You couldn't even tell if Billie is Carrie's daughter if you didn't know it already cause she looks much more like her father. But luckily, in the end her "fan acceptance" is irrelevant anyway cause she already plays a named character in this universe and has had significant enough screentime for Disney to not break their own meta just for this.

I guess a better way of putting it is that unlike Shatner, characters like Leia, Han, Lando or Luke are known solely through their portrayals by one specific actor which makes the visual resemblance more of a key factor when recasting them. That's why your Chris Pine argument isn't really good cause people care less about how much Pine looks like Shatner or how much any young white brown haired actor looks like Peter Parker than how recasted actors look like young Leia, Han, Lando or Luke cause they've only had one live action face so far. In summary, casting Billie as young Leia would be rather dumb for multiple reasons and Disney knows that which is why it's likely never gonna happen.

Very good casting choices, although, if Disney decided to make a series focusing on the events that happened after RoJ and before TFA, instead of a live action series (which can work as well) I would rather prefer a animated series made by the same creators of Clone Wars and Rebels. That way they could complete their trilogy of series, with each one taking place in one Star Wars's trilogy (Clone Wars takes place in the Prequel trilogy, Rebels takes place in the original trilogy and a new series could work as prequel to Sequel trilogy).
